 | | Diademas: <So WHY is this mockery of a game in the database?> It is after all a part of the FIDE Online Olympiad (2020). Young Ashley Todd has somehow been picked out to represent the proud nation of Bermuda. |

Well said AylerKupp, This lot are a bunch of chess bullies. Leave her alone, go pick on the 2500's (and there is nothing wrong with 2...Qa5+ it won in H Hardt vs L Lukovski, 2005 ) In the future when this lass is filling out a C.V. and comes to the bit where they ask for additional information, hobbies etc. Instead of the norm 'walking and music' she can put down Chess, adding she once represented her country in a Chess Olympiad! That should get her at least to the interview room, the 'music and walking' crowd never get that far. Remember that name, one day she will be in charge of some large company and it was chess that got her sweet feet under the table. Good Luck mate. (her Queen disappeared quicker than a ship in the Bermuda Triangle.) *** |

Because they better don't check out these games to understand her ability of critical thinking and problem solving which are necessary to review in most interviews - not that it's not possible to become in charge of a large company without these abilities or not that those who are in higher positions usually exhibit better ability than seen in this game. |

Hi Jith,
It's obvious she recently just learn't the moves and yet when asked to represent her country she did not flinch but stepped up to the plate. This ability not to doubt yourself and accept a fresh challenge is management material. She will one day become very rich and powerful and all the naysayers here will be on a hit 'get even' list. They will all in deep trouble 10-15 years from now and I am going to sell her your names and addresses. (I am so thankful the internet was not about when I first started. I use to get beat by my sister!) *** |

 | | Diademas: Given that there are three titled players on the Bermuda team: Serguei Gontcharov, Don Dacres and Zuzana Kovacova, I wonder what the process behind choosing poor Ashley was. |

 | | Dionysius1: The wikipedia page on chessgames.com says it is "Limited primarily to games where at least one player is of master strength". It might have been better if that had been applied here. There's something unseemly about putting up such a low class game and then having it mocked. But I can imagine that in the interests of getting bundles of games from events downloaded quickly onto the site, chessgames.com can't be too selective. Maybe it remains for us to be a bit higher-minded then, and not take the mickey! |

Not just a chess tournament, but a Chess <Olympic>. I suspect that neither you nor I will ever be able to do that.>Don't say that. Our cooking skills might get us there, if we serve for the right persons. Hope!, AK, hope! :-) That aside, I have once again realised that irony is a very difficult thing on international forums. What one person regards as harmeless, good-willed fun-making of insanely bad chess play, another person regards as a heartless mockering from a bully. Origined in a country founded on Kierkegaard's irony, I should be extra careful, I know. |

Aug-10-20 | | jith1207: <Diademas \ Dionysius>: user <<<<<<Octavia>>>>>> has given this explanation : <<<<<<<<<<<<<<i think its great that Fide decided to let the lowest teams play first. In each section (5 in all) all teams play each other & in the end the best 3 move up to the next level - correct? Some of the players have never played online before & others have never played a stronger player than their parents. So, of course, they make lots of mistakes - so what? It's nice that they're allowed to play. Some of them will study chess seriously & come back next time stronger >>>>>>>>>>>>>> |

 | | AylerKupp: <Sokrates> You're right. We can always aspire to participate, or even win, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bocus.... Scandinavians have traditonally done well. |
|
Aug-11-20 | | Sokrates: <AylerKupp> Ah, the Bocuse d'Or. Danes are quite proud of Rasmus Kofoed who won bronze in 2005
silver in 2007
and finally gold in 2011
His restaurant Geranium here in Copenhagen has had 3 Michelin stars for years now. I have not visited it, though. I have had enough of overly sophisticated 18 courses menus arranged by tweeters and pipettes. When Noma becan to serve living ants, I thought it was time to leave that kind of mannerism. :-) What about you, <AK>? (perhaps we should continue on your forum?) |
