 | | offramp: The Car-jacker has been off form for this tournament. At the same time, Giri is doing really well (including a de-fault). Carlsen will be like a mad snarling beast, tethered behind a flimsy fence, waiting for the gate to be opened. I expect Karjakin to be checkmated within (at most) 17 moves. |
|
Jan-26-22 | | kkshethin: I am hopping karakin to rise/awakw and beat norwagian in 50 moves |

 | | keypusher: Looks like no one is going to get what he wants. |

 | | keypusher: After 11.d4, White has all his pieces on the first rank, where they'll be safe. |
|
Jan-26-22
 | | offramp: Thankfully, today we have a different type of Berlin, the type with Bb5 takes Nc6. |
|
Jan-26-22
 | | keypusher: Well, that was a humdinger! |
|
Jan-26-22 | | Messiah: Now this is what I call fighting spirit! |
|
Jan-26-22 | | technical draw: Well, I never! |

 | | saffuna: <I expect Karjakin to be checkmated within (at most) 17 moves.> Well, you got the number of moves right. |
|
Jan-26-22 | | beenthere240: Computers have revolutionized the opening to be sure. |

 | | offramp: They did not say in The New York Times in 1897: "A chess contest in which participants go mad in their heads, and strain their powers until their faces become hideous with the tortures that rack them, is not a game. It is brutality. Days and weeks of recuperation will be needed to put the chess club players in condition, and it is likely that some of them will never recover from the strain...." They never said about anything that was anything like that. |
|
Jan-26-22 | | Damenlaeuferbauer: Things like this happen in chess. It is impossible (and Carlsen's is not obliged) to win every game. His aim is to win one of the strongest tournaments of the year, and I am sure he will succeed. |
|
Jan-26-22 | | chessrookstwo: Carlson is Carlson what can you say hes a beast |
|
Jan-26-22 | | beenthere240: Carlsen must have been bitterly disappointed when Karjakian found that forced drawing sequence. |

Jan-27-22
 | | fredthebear: <Spanish Game: Berlin Defense.> is the usual label here. |
|
Jan-27-22
 | | perfidious: It seems the opening has not taken on its proper nom de guerre quickly enough for <fredthebore>'s liking. This game has been in the books for mere hours. Yawn. Whatever. |

 | | Troller: <perfidious>
Surely that remark is uncalled for. If the Bear was all over game pages with only this type of posts, yes, a snide comment is in order; but I do not see that as the case.Bit of a strange choice by Karjakin though. He has won games against Carlsen before, and a win here would put him in contention for the top places. But he has a tournament modus operandi which involves saving energy in certain games I guess. |

 | | Clement Fraud: Absolutely appalling.
There are many great grandmasters who would love to take part in the Tata Steel Masters... and who would not insult people's intelligence like this. I would prefer to see players like Kramnik, Anand, Ivánchuk, Ponomariov, Judit Polgar, and Hou Yifan. |

Jan-27-22 | | fabelhaft: <Absolutely appalling.

Fighting spirit in every game, never a short draw, etc |

 | | perfidious: <Troller>, your reaction is perfectly understandable; but I have been the recipient of numerous such comments from him. Had enough. I bid you good day. |
|
Jan-27-22 | | N0B0DY: Of course, <N0B0DY> could have possibly predicted that. |
|
Jan-27-22 | | beenthere240: Hey Karjajin played a good game against P - he defended well snd won a tricky endgame. I think that MC snd SK are good friends. Still they could have come up with a more original and entertaining draw. |
