SANGEETA HOSEA
(born Oct-05-1975, 49 years old) India

[what is this?]
Sangeeta Agnes Hosea from Bangalore, India learnt to play chess by watching her Father and brothers play. As chess books were hard to come by she strengthened her game by playing through the newspaper chess columns of Raymond Keene and Leonard William Barden. Though she hasn't devoted herself entirely to the game the internet has allowed her to stay in touch with it by playing correspondence chess.

She is a frequent contributor to <chessgames.com>. User: Open Defence is her screen name.

No problem <OD> .. besides, your record is better than his ;-)

May-02-09  WhiteRook48: 100% to 68.1%...
May-04-09  refutor: <Grünfeld> i think the Grünfeld Exchange is one of the hardest openings to play (for both sides)

I never get the counterplay that the GMs do :)

Open Defence: yeah the grunfeld is very difficult, also the resulting en games can be very difficult to assess
May-16-09  Woody Wood Pusher: hey <OD>!

Sorry about my disappearing act, I have been busy with work.

I can't put as much time in as before for a while at least, but I would like to keep the game going still.

Please make a move whenever you wish, unfortunately I will not be able to put in much analysis for now but I will make time to update the profile if you want to add anything etc,

Hope you are doing well!

Best,

Woody

Open Defence: woody i am two thousand kilometres from home so it will take me some time to move
May-17-09  Woody Wood Pusher: 2000 km !?

I hope you didn't leave a light on.

When you get back, you might like to take a deep breath before reviewing M-Tel, the first part anyway.

The Chuckster is running on fumes...

:-(

Black could have fought on but I think passive defence was not her cup of tea

May-25-09  refutor: how's the canadian championship going?

Open Defence: I won 2 games and I'm doing well in all except the one against last year's winner...

I was running short of time and made a move in what I thought was a Ruy Lopez only to remember after I moved that we were actually playing the Four Knights... so it lead to a situation where Black has next to nil winning chances and faces an unpleasant end game....

serves me right for moving from my phone but I was travelling and for some reason the ICCF game menus on their web page dont work from my phone

May-30-09  refutor: <open defense> these things happen...i find that keeping the proper game on the board in front of you to be a critical (yet basic) skill in correspondence. in the last year at least twice i've either mentally added or removed a capture and a recapture while i was analyzing and ended up sending a bad move. please post the games when they're done s.v.p.

keypusher: Seriously, though, that was not one of my greatest games obviously, but most of the credit for the brevity of that encounter goes to you...I expected Bg5, and that would have been bad enough, but I had no idea how strong Ng5 was until you played it.

Open Defence: well Rybka seems to have trouble finding 12.d6 and also the forced mate with 19.Bh7+ in the post game analysis...

well Ng5 seems to be devastating in hind sight

if anyone is wondering what we are talking about its this game
