Sep-28-06  Uzi: Another famous Baltic GM with a penchant for a tipple is Jaan Ehlvest. Here's what he could do when the spirits moved in/him:

Ehlvest vs Ulf Andersson, 1988

Sep-28-06  Chess Classics: <RonB52734> <aw1988> Thanks guys =)

<Monoceros> I think it's a running joke. And as far as I can tell, Short still harbors a dislike for Kasparov. And I do not believe that Leko actually has a crush on Deep Blue in real life.

CC

Oct-06-06  Monoceros: I dunno...I mean, Shirov kind of *looks* like he might enjoy his alcohol. He's a bit puffy and red-faced at times.

Now, if you'll pardon me, I think I could use a drink.

Oct-06-06  hitman84: ROFL! <chessclassics>That was short and sweet.

Tabanus: Could any of you Moscow fans translate the caption of this wonderful picture for me? - http://www1.snapfish.com/slideshow/... Thanks in advance :)
Oct-06-06  Calli: "Chess Review" , I think, but only know a few Russian words. Shakmaty, the first word, is definitely "Chess". The second word I vaguely recall from a company document. (We have a Moscow office and they somtimes they have an обозрени- е).

Tabanus: <Calli> Actually, it is the Russian chess magazine "64", or "64 Chess Review"; their calendar.
Oct-10-06  Calli: Ah, okay, I see the "64" in the upper left corner. Right, not the magazine itself, just their calendar.
Oct-30-06  Chess Classics: Introducing...Chess Camp Revamped!

Starring: Kasparov, Kramnik, Topalov, Anand, Short.

The Scene: Our heroes are going through games at a beginners tournament and pointing out things they missed.

Beginner #1 Comes Up and hands Kasparov the score sheet.

Kasparov: Hey, kid, I have bigger things to do than to play through every dumb little beginner's game.

Beginner #1 snatches the scoresheet and hands it to Short

Short: What his greatness said.

Anand: Do you know what Kasparov even said?

Short: Something extremely thought out and intelligent, I'm sure.

Beginner #1 is thoroughly annoyed, and hands it to Kramnik, who looks through it for half a minute.

Kramnik: Interesting, but I must use the bathroom.

Topalov: DON'T YOU DARE, VLAD! YOU'RE GOING TO FEED THE SCORE TO YOUR MANAGER WHO'LL FEED IT TO FRITZ! THEN EVERYONE WILL LAUD YOU FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T DO! NICE TRY!

Kramnik: How dare you insult me in that way! I demand an apology.

*Kramnik and Topalov get in a fist fight*

Beginner #1: Maybe I'll just feed the game to Fritz and see what it says...

Anand: Capital idea.

CC

OhioChessFan: Whew, I have forgotten about my story. And when I went to retrieve the concluding chapters, I'd lost them. Curses on GMAN! Okay, back to work.
Dec-11-06  Chess Classics: The Reviews are in on Borat! Here is what the worlds leading chessplayers had to say.

Kasparov: This is typical Putinistic propoganda. He creates ethnic conflict, and then takes sides, obliterating the other side, thus becoming a hero with the victor. This is perfectly illustrated in this movie.

Kramnik: Well, Borat has some offense on the Jews, but the Jews defended well, so it comes out to a draw.

Topalov: Throw Kramnik's review away, he got it from Fritz. Expect to hear more about this.

Aronian: I dont really have an opinion, I was away on a date. With a certain Australian. Who sings. And plays 3rd board for their Olympiad team...

Short: What his greatness said.

Fischer: He's got it! He's on to something! Grab them by the horns! Why didn't I ever think of that?!

Regards,
CC

Dec-12-06  Karpova: Reviews on <Braveheart>:

Kasparov: Astonishingly, this is my biography and Putin will try to disembowl me, too. I'm just too dangerous an opponent for his despotic regime!

Topalov: My manager, IM Danailov, has all the footage from the fights and discovered that William Wallace visits the toilet approximately 50 times during each fight. I don't want to accuse him of cheating - i don't have all the information and it's not my cup of tea - but this Mr. Wallace's behaviour is very suspicious and raises many questions!

Kramnik: I have absolutely no explanation for William Wallace's defeat in the final battle.

Short: It's obvious that Bobby Fischer lead William Wallace! It's clearly his handwriting. I have to tell you that i once played against Bobby on ICC. He didn't reveal his name but it must have been him. We played about 800 games and i lost them all. Fischer made strange opening moves like f3 g4 or Nh3 and still beat me beautifully. I have the scoresheets at home and won't show them to you but everything is true!

Fischer: <He was not available because he currently attends the Holocaust conference in Teheran.>

Morozevich: I retired from professional film reviewing due to the fact that i don't see any possibility of becoming a WC in the near future. There's currently a great mess in the film reviewing world and i have so many other interests apart from film critics.

Dec-12-06  setebos: Please be careful when you speak about Col. Putin. His eyes and ears are every where and his ego is very fragile :(

Feb-03-07  Dr.Lecter: great stuff. I'm very amused. Why did <yoozum> stop writing? I simply have to read the episode 13. I read all 25 pages' worth of kibitzing in one night, and I'm still laughing! Ha, Ha, Ha
Feb-03-07  positionalgenius: Its a gloomy night in london. All the top players are there for the kasparov invitational blitz tournament. Leko, kramnik, topalov and short go in one room. Kasparov, arrogant as ever, offers to take mamedyarov, radjabov and Aronian on in a simul. Aronian laughs and exclaims,"why not?" Danailov sneaks in the back door with deep shredder 10 in his hand. Leko and topalov agree to play blitz. Kramnik plugs in his deep fritz on a laptop and goes to the restroom. Short grabs the laptop and logs on playchess. Topalov is clearly disturbed by leko's pregame blowing of the pieces ritual, but manages to keep his paranioa to a mild state. danailov is using sign language in the back of the room as topalov and leko start.Kramnik, emerging from the restroom, looks at a sharp najdorf in the leko-topalov blitz game and declares with conviction,"draw." Meanwhile short is getting whipped by his opponent on playchess. Kramnik is puzzled why short would take on deep fritz in a 3/1 blitz game but remains silent. meanwhile Kasparov is losing on all 3 boards, and is getting flustered as aronian keeps laughing. Leko spots a dust bunny floating over the chessboard and,out of reflex, blows it away.Meanwhile topalov is getting distracted by the blowing as he's trying to read the danailov sign language and drops a rook. A kibitzing kramnik immediately exclaims "draw." Meanwhile short is resorting to profanity as he's repeatedly losing game after game.Suddenly his expression changes and he yells <ITS FISCHER!!!!>. A look of annoyance crosses kasparov's face. He finally cannot take the aronian laughs and leaps over the table and tackles him. mamedyarov simply keeps on calculating a rook sac. meanwhile topalov has blundered with 50...f5??? dropping his queen. leko keeps blowing that dust bunny and short sits in awe as kramnik proclaims "draw.".
The end.
Feb-03-07  positionalgenius: So what do people think of the story?
Feb-03-07  Dr.Lecter: A nice description of the players. No offense at all, but not the best I've read, but way better than I can write. I'm not even going to attempt it, because people will be mentally scarred from my hideous writing for the rest of their long lives.
Feb-03-07  positionalgenius: <Dr lecter>Thanks for the honest assessment. I thought that I could improve it,chiefly in these ways: -put danailov in more parts
-shorten the story
-more kramnik-topalov interaction
-I left out the kasparov-mamedayarov/aronian/radjabov part out too much.
Feb-03-07  Dr.Lecter: More kramnik-topalov interaction would be great. Fist fight makes it very enjoyable. And if topalov fires danailov and goes to Korchnoi or some such other nonsense to be the new manager, it would be great.
Feb-03-07  Dr.Lecter: Oh, by the way, wasn't it your avatar with Kramnik? If so, why did you delete it?
Feb-04-07  positionalgenius: <Dr lecter>Good ideas. btw,you are confusing me with user <positionalbrilliancy>. It happens alot.:)
Feb-04-07  Dr.Lecter: Oh, and on your previous comment, <shorten the story> really is unnecessary. I enjoy reading long stories, and i think others do too.
Feb-04-07  Chess Classics: <positionalgenius> I got a scary sense of Deja Vu reading the story, wonder why...

Very funny though, it's good that people still remember that this page exists. Back in the golden days, Yoozum produced hilarious stories frequently.

CC
