Feb-22-07  angslo: <that 67.95 is the ELO that Harika has gained for the January list to leap from 2353 to 2421....

As far as i know, Harika has participated in the National Women Championship and National Championship of India before coming to Aeroflot...> oops! :)
she looks in trouble in her game after
41 moves

Feb-22-07  angslo: Harika lost. good tournament for her anyway
Feb-22-07  SNiraj: Really sad that Harika lost. Atleast India got one GM norm from Rohit ...
Feb-22-07  angslo: I am happy for Rohit.
The way Harika has been playing for some time now, I hope she would get GM norm soon. Good Luck to Harika
Feb-23-07  VishyFan: Harika will be gaining 17.6 ELO from Aeroflot 2007, great performance by her....
Feb-24-07  SNiraj: <angslo> Harika has another chance in the Kolkatta Open where there are GMs like Tiviakov, Sadvakasov and Pantsulaia playing ...
Feb-26-07  Tactic101: Impressive performance by Harika. Scoring 4/9 points in a tournament as hard as this one is no small feat. Sooner or later, Harika will become as known as other junior girls, like Katy. No offense when I'm saying that.
Feb-26-07  angslo: <SNiraj: <angslo> Harika has another chance in the Kolkatta Open where there are GMs like Tiviakov, Sadvakasov and Pantsulaia playing ...?> <sniraj> after reading your post , I googled and found http://www.hindu.com/2007/02/24/sto... but it does not mention the participation of Harika.
Feb-27-07  Ragh: <angslo> The Kolkata Open tournament website is http://www.alekhinechessclub.com/
Feb-27-07  angslo: thanks <ragh>. Harika seems to be doing ok - draw with sadvakasov and 2 wins against lowly rated opponents so far
Feb-28-07  angslo: <SNiraj: <angslo> Harika has another chance in the Kolkatta Open where there are GMs like Tiviakov, Sadvakasov and Pantsulaia playing ...> Thanks, <SNiraj>, for the info.
Feb-28-07  VishyFan: I think Harika withdrew from the tournament.... :(

Apparently she hasn't turned up for the 4th round and she has not figured in the 5th round pairings....

Mar-01-07  VishyFan: <WGM Dronavalli Harika withdrew from the tournament after falling ill and left for home.> poor girl...., i hope she'll recover fast....

lostemperor: Harika just played a young master tournament in the Netherlands. She finished a neat 7th with 2509 TPR. http://www.onjk.nl/ click "Indelingen en uitslagen "for results. "Dagverslagen" for reports (in English from round 6). "Partijen" for pgn games.
Sep-03-07  yalie: Harika won the Women's Asian Zonal Chess Championships and ALSO QUALIFIED FOR THE KHANTY MANSIK WORLD CUP (as per www.cpai.in).
Oct-27-07  samsal27: <Yalie> Harika won the individual Gold in the Ladies section and also the team title in the Asian Indoor Games. Congrats to her!
Oct-27-07  yalie: <samsal27> yes. I guess Humpy's loss to catherine Pereira doomed here and she couldnt make the top 4 to play for the individual gold. Well, as far as India is concerned, it is all good since Harika brought home the gold anyway.

Now comes the Classical section and then the Blitz section. So far, India has captured all three Golds available and must be at least co-favorites alongwith China for the other 6 golds.

Oct-30-07  samsal27: <yalie> Harika seems to be India's only hope for a medal in the individual classical events. India got the silver in the classical team event behind China.
Nov-13-07  samsal27: Harika in joint 4th with two rouunds remaining in the National Women's 'A' championship. Next up is WIM Mary Ann Gomes ...
Nov-15-07  samsal27: Harika faltered at the end missing a certain win against Soumya in the last round to finally lose the game and her place in the Indian team for the upcoming Olympiad in Dresden. Let us hope she can fare better in the World Youth Chess Championships which get underway shortly in Turkey ...
Dec-28-07  samsal27: Harika captains the Indian team in the Asian Team Championships. Other members are Tania Sachdev, Nisha Mohota and R. Aarthie. Hope they can strike gold!
Feb-11-08  VishyFan: Harika has just finished joint 3rd at the 2008 Moscow Open in the ladies section with 7/9... She will gain 6.7 ELO from the tournament....

From her performance in the Asian Team Championship 2007, she will gain 2.8 ELO....

Harika is effectively 2464.5...

Next up, she will play in the Aeroflot Open..., she had a wonderful tournament last year..., All the best to Harika to gain her final GM Norm...

Feb-13-08  VishyFan: Harika is the only Indian to be participating in the 2008 edition of Aeroflot Open...

She is up against Solodovnichenko, Yuri (UKR) 2541 in the first round...

Feb-15-08  VishyFan: Harika won her 1st round game and will face FM Nechepurenko, Roman V. (RUS) 2495 in the 2nd round with black pieces......
