OhioChessFan: Great story. As for her looks, she's awful young to be going for the glamor shot look so much.
Jul-22-13  JoergWalter: Update:

<38 days left; one way of looking at it is that each day brings me closer to success! I won't stop studying, I won't stop preparing. I would love to do some other fun things too, like renewing my passport and booking flights! But that part depends on you, my friends. Remember, no one is charged unless the full amount is raised. Thank you!>

Friends, romans, countrymen ... come on
we running out of precious time...

perfidious: <Joerg>: There's an old New England saying which covers the odds of that happening: <You can wish in one hand, s**t in the other and see which fills first.>

FSR: Nope, he didn't make it. http://www.gofundme.com/3faxy8 I can't believe that no one jumped on the opportunity to get a signed copy of his novel <Amanda> for only $12,000. No doubt you could turn around and sell that puppy on eBay for $5 if you offered free shipping. Well, OK, probably not.

Phony Benoni: I am reminded of a comment by the <Hideous Hog>, one of Victor Mollo's immortal group of fictional bridge players:

"Try to get an unsigned copy. Much rarer."

Sep-15-13  JoergWalter: He may try this approach next year:

< My Sponsors page.

Would you like to see your name ... or the name of your company here?

All you need to do is make a contribution - above the minimum amount. (Five thousand dollars is a reasonable figure.)

I am looking for a company that would be willing to support my efforts. I would need a minimum of $1,500.00 per month of income to make this dream a reality. If you think that you (or your company) might be willing to support me in my efforts to bring the world some of the finest chess content that is available on the internet, then please contact me.

I would also be glad to provide a link back to your home page. Contact me for complete details.>

Nov-05-13  Lutwidge: Does anyone know what the deal is with this: http://www.gofundme.com/4vjs5w ?

I don't know really anything about IM Taylor, but his appeal seems genuine (in this case, at any rate) and urgent. That said, he apparently tried to post the above on chess.com and his blogs were removed. Anyhow, further information/details about this would be appreciated, as I would like to help (his wife's situation sounds absolutely dire) but am also loath to be caught in or, worse yet, propagate some sort of elaborate scam.

FWIW, a friend of mine called the oral surgeon (whose services they are trying to afford) and affirmed that his wife is indeed a patient there.
