  John Saunders: Born in 1951, the younger brother of Simon Webb. Studied at Jesus College, Cambridge, and was president of the Cambridge University Chess Club in 1971/72.

  perfidious: By the early 1980s, when I was living there, I remember seeing Roger Webb in the lists as a Massachusetts player, but do not recall ever even seeing him at any tournament, much less meeting him. He was living in a place called Belchertown, in the western part of the state, thus at a far remove from most chess activity in that state.

  perfidious: One further piece of information: Webb played in the first Boston Futurity, held in April 1981, finishing fourth of ten players with a score of 5.5/9. Perhaps one day I can get all 45 games submitted.
