perfidious: Don't suggest you call Tony the latter to his face-met him in the late 1980s. He's a NYC cop-nice guy, but tough.

louispaulsen88888888: The name Renna is an old Anglo-Saxon name. It comes from when a family lived in the region of Renwick beside the Eden river in Cumberland. Renna is a topographic surname, which was given to a person who resided near a physical feature such as a hill, stream, church, or type of tree. Habitation names form the other broad category of surnames that were derived from place-names. They were derived from pre-existing names for towns, villages, parishes, or farmsteads. Other local names are derived from the names of houses, manors, estates, regions, and entire counties.
Apr-16-22  Granny O Doul: ...be this as it may, the name is far more common in Italy, so coupled with the first name "Anthony", I'm going to guess his origins are Italian. The Italian name apparently means "reindeer" and sometimes appears as "Renda".

There was another USCF member named Anthony Renna, Jr., of Pennsylvania, no particular relation and quite a few inches shorter than the New York one.

By the way, my own mother's surname means deer, or son of a deer. In a different language, granted, but I'll bet the deer could communicate just fine. Gens una sumus.
