Now this guy had a chess career. He first shows up at the Western Open (foreruuner of the US Open) in 1934, and played in tournaments through till 2001!

  GrahamClayton: Nash was originally born Adam Edmund Nasierawski into a Polish family in Canada. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1936. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison he earned a B.A. in 1932 and an M.A. in 1938. He was a division chief at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
