Dr. Constantin Schwede was a player and problemist. In the 1870s, he was an editor for the Deutsche Schachzeitung, succeeding Johannes von Minckwitz as publisher in 1876-1878.

Dr. Constantin Schwede (30.10.1854 – 10.2.1917)

trat sowohl als Partiespieler als auch als Problemist hervor. In den 1870er Jahren war er als Redakteur für die "Deutsche Schachzeitung" tätig und übernahm von 1876–78 von Johannes von Minckwitz zeitweise die Position des Herausgebers. "Winke für Problernverfasser" war ein erster von mehreren größeren Artikeln, die Schwede als Problemist verfasste.

Aug-08-09  whiteshark: Constantin Schwede besteht mit 16,5 Jahren das Abitur. Das Philologiestudium in Leipzig für 1875 zur Promotion.

Als Zwölfjähriger hatte er sich die Schachregeln aus Zeitungsrubriken erschlossen, ab 1870 erwarb sich der gebürtige Dresdner im Kreis der "Augustea" eine beachtliche Spielstärke.

1872-1878 leitet er bereits als Student die <Deutsche Schachzeitung>, ab 1881 redigiert er den <Thüringer Hausfreund> in Erfurt, 1882 heiratet er.
