Apr-15-08  unsound: Has anyone read Gelfer's Positional Chess Handbook? Did you like it?
Apr-15-08  dx9293: It is cheap...and OUTSTANDING! Buy it!
Apr-16-08  unsound: OK--thanks <dx9293> for the clear advice.
Feb-17-09  whiskeyrebel: I got mine for $4.98 a couple weeks ago. It's a great value. 495 positions grouped by themes such as strong knight vs. bad bishop in endgames with kings and pawns. Gelfer ties the positions together well pointing out common plans.

Feb-01-12  Cardinal Fang: My very favourite Gelfer game is one he lost - Comerciaru v Gelfer, Israel 1971. The final combination is here (in Romanian) http://iulianceausescu.wordpress.co... - sadly it's missing the prelude, in which Gelfer plays a combination to win a piece which turns out to be a diabolical trap. I've never been able to find the whole game.
