Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-12-08  whiskeyrebel: I saw Carl at the 2008 National open for the first time in over 30 years. We played on opposing high school teams and in various tournaments. He's a great guy with a splendid sense of humor. At the tournament he wound up being paired with none other than Gata Kamsky in the first round! He showed up 55 minutes late, strolling in with uncombed hair, a T-shirt and sandals to face Gata who was sporting a dignified suit. It seemed like a decent game in spite of Carl's lateness.

perfidious: One of the quickest games I ever won was against this player at the 1980 Tanglewood Open after he responded to 1.c4 with 1....g5; about twelve moves in all.
