GrahamClayton: Blackstock was a last-minute addition to the 1970 Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Congress, held at Marlow in August. He surprisingly won the tournament with a score of 4/5, ahead of Hartson, Corden, Lee and Whiteley, who had been chosen to represent Britain at the 1970 Olympiad in Siegen.
