Bernard Rabinowitz was born in Cape Town, South Africa on September 27, 1937. He played in Johannesburg (1955), where he tied for last but drew his game against former world champion Max Euwe. He competed for South Africa in the World Junior Championship (1957). In the 1958 Cape Town Championship, he finished first with an undefeated 8-2 score.
