  ketchuplover: congrats to Gata
Dec-14-07  Ipecac: Now that´s a horrible way of losing, after 2 hours of searching perfection you end up winning by reflexes like if shooting ducks
Dec-14-07  Caloy: Wow, great win by kamsky! and I thought he was losing at one point.. Congrats kamsky!!!
Dec-14-07  Jesspatrick: It's over. The rook will dance for Kamsky

Dec-14-07  malthrope: 37. Ngf7+ is just toooooo strong! Way to go Gata! :^)
Dec-14-07  virginmind: bravo kamsky
Dec-14-07  cotdt: WOW! That was some excellent game won by Kamsky. He played perfectly under time pressure! If he keeps playing like this he can beat anyone.
Dec-14-07  Eyal: 37...Bxf7 38.Nxf7+ Kh7 39.Rd7 and the threat of Ng5+ followed by mate is lethal.

Dec-14-07  nzstew: Well done Kamsky. And since it`s 2:30am in the morning I`m off to bed!

Honza Cervenka: Time for Rook to dance. Poor Alexey, but he has called it on himself alone trying to push too hard.

chessgames.com: Thanks to everybody for stopping by today. The action continues tomorrow morning at 5:00am (USA/Eastern). See you then!
Dec-14-07  Tomlinsky: <cotdt> What engine are you using? Sargon II?
Dec-14-07  Eurotrash: Well I'm glad somebody won. Now Shirov has to make the most of having the white pieces tomorrow.
Dec-14-07  cotdt: <Honza Cervenka: Time for Rook to dance. Poor Alexey, but he has called it on himself alone trying to push too hard.>

Yeah Shirov should have went for the drawish 22...Qg4 instead of Qxf6.

Dec-14-07  MuradJ: Shirov has very well prepared in theory, but Kamsky has good tactic. Good game.
Dec-14-07  malthrope: I think we can now remove all doubts re: Gata's comeback attempt... He has arrived! And, he's playing stronger than ever! :^)

  Mateo: It's a forced win after 37...Bxf7 38.Nxf7+ Rxf7 39.Rgxg8+ Kh7 40.Rh8+ Kg7 41.Rdg8+ Kf6 42.e5+ Ke7 43.Re8+ Kd7 44.e6+.
Dec-14-07  prikton: amazing. I never expect him to win so early. Such a solid performance. He really deserves the victory.
Dec-14-07  vonKrolock: excellent game - white ♔ was exposed to atack, but Kamsky managed to protect his majesty from the black pieces - when the white ♖♖s arrived, the black ♔ was helpless in his corner cell... "no tricks, no fortresses - Gataulla attacks, Gataulla wins"
Dec-14-07  cotdt: <Tomlinsky: <cotdt> What engine are you using? Sargon II?>

Ha! Nice try, but I do not wish to reveal my secrets...

Dec-14-07  znprdx: <AdrianP: Bloody fantastic - who'd have thought this would be the finish after Ng1!... Gata is hard as nails! He'll eat Topalov for breakfast.> Yup and he'll >Top-it-all-off< with crumpets and jam... what a beautiful game.... Congratulations to Shirov for giving us the good fight... <Ipecac: New timing is horrible, it spoils 80% of the games now. I hope FIDE changes it again> on the contrary...this is Chess as it is meant to be played not 20 odd move handshake draws.
Dec-14-07  whiteshark: The downfall started with <22...Qxf6>
Dec-14-07  karnak64: Well, I was trying to analyze the game with Thomas the Tank Engine, but he just sat there and watched the board and didn't say a thing.

Great win by Kamsky. Thanks to chessgames.com for carrying the match, and to the usual suspects for the insightful discussion and pleasant banter.

Dec-14-07  tldr3: One of the most fighting games i seen in a while. Great job by both players
