In this tourn Rybka also play with the impresive +9 =2
Mar-30-06  SickedChess: IM Emilio Cordova got his first GM norm in Entel 2006 Tournament http://ajedrez.123.cl
Emilio age is 14 years
May-03-06  Inf: wow, i was looking for this guy and i really thought he was like Granda... kinda old. but i was totally wrong!! and im happy that i am! i really hope he studies chess so we can see him on top of the world. 14 years old and 2440 ELO is great!!
May-23-06  Caissanist: Cordova is off to a great start in the Olympiad (3-0), including a win with the black pieces against GM Smirin (2677). Unfortunately Peru only has four players on their team this year, it's going to be tough for him to keep playing at this level without any rest.
May-23-06  s4life: Tremendous game against Smirin... I just played it over.
May-23-06  Prugno: This looks like an enormously promising young player. I hope he gets the chance to develop his talent (coaching, ecc.) without being hindered by financial or geographical difficulties.
May-23-06  s4life: <14 years old and 2440 ELO is great!!> actually he's the #1 in the world in his age bracket. Very promising indeed.
May-23-06  buscher07: Anybody know where he is from? Thanks.

chancho: <buscher07> He is from Peru. The link below is an interview of his when he was 12 years old. (it's in spanish)

http://www.terra.com.pe/deportes/en...

May-24-06  Caissanist: It turns out that Parimarjan Negi is a few points higher than him on the most recent FIDE list, although Cordova has probably already gained enough points to go past him again.
May-30-06  Inf: <s4life> indeed very very very promising player. i only hope he studies chess and has nuff financial back up to develop. im looking forward to this.
Jun-04-06  Inf: well after 13 rounds emilio and the peruvian team did fine, considering the had no more players so they could rest but still i think everybody gain ELO points.
Jul-09-06  I3illieJoe: I 've had the opportunity to talk to this guy in person and he is a very friendly, down to earth person. He's not arrogant at all and as I said, it was very easy for me to get along with him. I wish him the best of lucks.
Jul-13-06  Inf: he can break his personal fide rating soon!! only 6 elo points shy.
Jul-17-06  Inf: i wonder why isnt he playing on balguer with granda right now? school? granda just had his 1st game and won. ^^
Aug-12-06  ChessVip: Emilio is doing well in US Chess Open (Chicago)
http://www.lipead.org/emilio/
Aug-14-06  ChessVip: Emilio Cordova got his second GM norm. He beat Joel Benjamin and drew with the winner Yury Shulman http://www.lipead.org/emilio/

Aug-14-06  Inf: so he needs one more GM norm to be a GM?? and how many ELO points he gained??
Aug-14-06  s4life: <ChessVip: Emilio Cordova got his second GM norm. He beat Joel Benjamin and drew with the winner Yury Shulman http://www.lipead.org/emilio/ >

Excellent news! one more to go...

Aug-14-06  Inf: any link to the site?? and i see a 2570 next to emilio's name?? is that his rating already? or Rp?!?
Aug-14-06  Caissanist: The official site can be found at http://chessforlife.com/chess/usope.... Cordova was one of ten players who tied for second, half a point behind Shulman. The 2570 is his USCF rating--these ratings tend to be higher than FIDE's, I believe by about 50 points on average.
Aug-14-06  Inf: thanks, i thought it was fide rating.
Aug-14-06  I3illieJoe: Go Emilio !!
Sep-07-06  Inf: anyone knows when is he playing again?
