CHESSGAMES - BEER

[what is this?]

Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).

Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success. Nov-10-05  meloncio: Only for football/soccer lovers: Heavy excitements are coming close in Spanish Liga. In the same weekend (Nov. 19-20), we have SEVILLA F.C.-R.Betis (our little but very important local battle), and R.Madrid-Barcelona C.F.

Here you can enjoy a little show about the old "love story" between Madrid & Barça: http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...

Nov-10-05  Anatooly Homedepotov: <TheAlchemist> Lol. Thanks. Seems like my feeble attempts at self-effacing humor didn't exactly start a trend.

¿No has notado las mayúsculas? Check my profile! :-D

Nov-10-05  aw1988: Hullo. Just popping in for a Beer. It's a while yet until post 7000, but I figure heck, intermission, eh?

Just finished annotating one of the game I played.
Nov-10-05  suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> It's exhausting and thirsty work, but well worth it! Cheers, my friend!
Nov-11-05  Anatooly Homedepotov: <tpstar> Very nice game, thanks. Funny that I arrived at a B vs N endgame against both you and <schnarre> with me having the B in both games, and the B being one that travels on the black squares. Kinda eerie.
Nov-12-05  hidude: <pawnidentificator> and <Robert James Fischer> You're Eric Schiller, right? And Octoberfest tastes like the thing that comes out from my (and everyone elses) butt.

Nov-12-05  pawntificator: <midnight blue> I live in Hawaii too! I mentioned this once before but I don't know if you ever saw the message or replied. What island? What part? Let's play! Meet me at the Waikiki chess tables on friday! heh heh
Nov-12-05  Akavall: What's the most bitter beer you've drank? It seems as nothing is too bitter for me...
Nov-12-05  Anatooly Homedepotov: <schnarre> Aye!
Nov-13-05  melianis: Most probably this has been mentioned here before but I'm too tired to find out: Chess-related drinking-game board, http://www.ekitchengadgets.com/shgl... ,I guess the player is expected to drink upon capture...
Nov-13-05  fgh: I'am celebrating my 2100+ online rating here.
Nov-13-05  c o r e: The bitterest of beers I've tasted was called 'arrogant bastard ale', I think. And I let my pal borrow my account to play chess on yahoo- I'm celebrating my new 1169 rating lol :D
Nov-13-05  Akavall: <c o r e> Thanks, I never had this beer, I hope my local "bevarage store" has it, because I really want to try it.

Arrogant Bastard Ale has some good reviews

Nov-13-05  who: We should get User: WTHarvey to post some key positions from Beer games.
Nov-13-05  prodigywannabe: I'm surprised nobody has made any Guiness jokes involving brilliant moves by Beer, so I'll not make one and let someone else do it, since I can't think of the right wording.

Something like, "Knight to c7? Brilliant!"
