WannaBe: My only minor complaint would be when <soberknight> is tell the Charles Storey, I would have done one post a day. (Yes, I am sour graping.)

Benzol: <tpstar> You should be posting - "Once upon a time, once when you were mine, I remember skies mirrored in your eyes, I wonder where you are, I wonder if you think about it, Once upon a time, In your wildest dream".

Mar-18-06  THE pawn: Holy crap...this is...

this is...

as beatiful as nature himself...

You cry after you read...

Kramnik and Topalov bashers should all come here, read this...then reunite in a peaceful world.

''Be ashamed until you have one some victory for humanity''.

I guess you can now die with a big smile on your face. I can only recall of one other who's accomplished such a beautiful art of work:

even saw a part 2 of that video some time ago, though cant find the link to it...

Sep-03-06  mack: No, this isn't another punorama. Just a word on Charles Storey himself. According to the obnoxious BandanaChess.com, he's set to appear on 'The Dragon's Den' (worst name for a TV show ever?) in October. Ho hum. http://www.bandanachess.com/2.html
Oct-19-06  soberknight: Oh good Lord (no pun intended). To be mentioned in the same sentence as the infamous copyright pirate ebaumsworld - with friends like that, who needs enemies? But I appreciate the spirit of the comment. Or if it was just comparing my story to the Christmas lights, I don't see the relevance.

I just checked back here and re-read the whole shpiel. It was hard not to laugh, just not to distract my roommate. It really is funny.

If I could write it again, I would have used more ambiguous player names, such as "Benjamin" in place of "Joel Benjamin." At the time, I lacked the technical understanding to search chessgames.com for such subtleties. (I was using the search bar at the top, not the "advanced search" function in the middle of the page, which gives the first 41 results for a given name. By the way, I never figured out, or got an answer, as to why it was exactly 41 names. Do a search for very common names such as Michael, Mikhail, Jose, Robert, Smith, etc. and you will see what I am talking about. I made one other post on this topic a while back.) Anyway, thanks everyone for appreciating my work. As an adherent of the Orthodox Jewish religion, it's good to maintain some good-natured humor as I prepare to read again the creation story in the first 5 1/2 chapters of Genesis, which is the subject of this Saturday's public reading in synagogue. (I often do the public reading myself, but I have this week off.)

Jan-02-09  WhiteRook48: WHAT A PUN!! I never knew all those players existed
Jan-11-09  WhiteRook48: "Cain checkmated Abel"
That is one funny sentence.
Jan-18-09  WhiteRook48: congratulations for the brilliant pun
Jan-21-09  WhiteRook48: if only "IM" was a player, if we could get a link to "International Master"
Jan-25-09  WhiteRook48: Here's a Storey: The Storey is that Storey won only 49.1% of the players that challenged his Storey
Sep-01-09  Dredge Rivers: <WhiteRook48> That's a likely Storey!

Check It Out: Whoa <soberknight>, just read your killer post - incredible!
Nov-05-09  Plato: <soberknight> brilliant!
Mar-01-11  mack: I note that Storey has a new book out on what he calls 'The Sniper': 1...g6, 2...Bg7 & 3...c5 against most everything. A cursory flick-through in London Chess & Bridge suggests this is a fairly disingenous work; just one game by Lawrence Day, who made a living from this opening, and barely a mention of the word 'Pterodactyl'.
Mar-08-11  mack: Well, I'm definitely sold now. Put me down for 58, Charlie.
Jan-13-12  whiteshark: He (also) made a Foxy DVD (no 134) on ...

<The White Sniper 1.g3,Bg2,c4>

Feb-13-13  whiteshark: <The Sniper play 1...g6, ...Bg7 and ...c5>, Everyman 2011

The Sniper is a dynamic and universal opening weapon for Black which can be used against all mainline openings. Black's system of development with ...g6 and ...Bg7 initially allows White to occupy the centre but, in true hypermodern style, Black strikes back immediately with ...c5. The Sniper can lead to original or barely-known positions in which black can strive for the initiative. It's also rich in move order possibilities, with potential transpositions into Sicilian, King's Indian or Benko-type positions.

FIDE Master Charlie Storey has spent years refining his favourite opening, successfully testing it out against players of all levels. In this book he reveals all his secrets, recommends his favourite lines for Black and provides you with everything you need to know about this fascinating opening.

A repertoire for Black against 1 e4 and 1 d4
Packed full of creative and original ideas
Explains typical plans and tactics for both sides

It's all or nothing for Mr Storey!

Oct-27-15  Bruce Graham: It's not often we see chess players jostling for news space with rivals like Kim Kardashian: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...
Jan-19-17  ColeTrane: What kind of idiot admits to drug use at a job interview? Clue: he has two thumbs and your looking at his chess games....
Aug-01-19  Gallicrow: Today Mr Storey's opponent in round 6 of the British Championship, Lorin D'Costa, was defaulted. You can read why here: https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopi...

Mr Storey is a self-proclaimed "devout Christian".
