Aug-27-14  Refused: <The Ehrfurt Women's tournament began today>

I am fairly conident the city's name is Erfurt.

Aug-27-14  whiteshark: tournament page: http://frauenschachfestival-erfurt....
Aug-27-14  waustad: <refused> It isn't my first error. It won't be my last.
Aug-28-14  Refused: Hehe, nobody's perfect, it was just one of the days I simply felt the urge to nitpick on something. And your post just happened to have some minor flaw in it. :)

So no offense.

perfidious: <waustad> is one of the good guys here--if I ever ragged him about something, no offence would be intended.
Sep-27-14  waustad: Tomorrow's second round in the FBL could determine the favorite to win the title, pitting Bad Königshofen against OSG Baden Baden. The former team has GM Zhao Xue and GM Valentina Gunina on the top two boards against the Muzychuk sisters playing for Baden Baden. Elisabeth Paehtz will be playing IM Anna Zatonskih, barring any changes from the rosters playing today. I haven't seen the games on live anywhere, which is a shame. It has been hit or miss for the last few seasons finding games from this league. This site often gives the most recent results: http://nsv-online.de/ligen/fbl-1415...
Oct-04-14  waustad: She's listed as playing top board for SK Advisory Invest Baden 2 in the Niederösterreichische Landesliga 2014/2015. Their first round is tomorrow morning. Of course team members don't always play every (or sometimes even any) rounds. This league is somewhat unusual because they seem to play only one game each weekend they play, unlike most leagues where they play 2 or 3, or like some events where they play the whole season straight through. They play at 10:00 on Sunday mornings, presumably to allow travel home.
Oct-08-14  waustad: There is an interview where she discusses her goal of reaching 2500 soon and more here (German): http://de.chessbase.com/post/leserg...
Oct-09-14  Lingfield Grove: She wont be playing in Germany as she is at Douglas Isle of Man all week. She going well in the early rounds of this strong meet.Pity EM couldnt make it to aid chances of a second GM norm.
Oct-09-14  Lingfield Grove: She is 3/5 at this poker stars tournament. See chess results ENG
Oct-18-14  waustad: She won her first round game against Frank Karger playing bottom board for SV Hockenheim in the German Bundesliga. There isn't a page yet for the league here, but that should come fairly soon.
Dec-18-14  waustad: Her team in the Frauenbundesliga, Bad Königshofen, didn't play their scheduled match last weekend against Rodewischer SM. The former team has some members who were playing in tournaments elsewhere so perhaps the teams agreed to play on a different date. Last season several teams played a match before an officially scheduled round, but none after.
Dec-18-14  whiteshark: <waustad> You are probably right about the reasons. note that this was the single round weekend, where the 'joint traveling teams' played against each other. Next FBL weekend is 24/25 Jan 2015 so it's still possible that both teams meet before the next round. ;D
Dec-19-14  waustad: I'm mostly surprised that they are letting a much better team avoid playing on the official day to allow the top boards to be in town. Last year didn't work like that.
Dec-24-14  waustad: In looking at the main Bundesliga page, they will play Jan 23. The single round weekend is even more complicated for the men's Bundesliga since it is being played on 3 different days. I had assumed it was a typo at first. Now I understand.
Jan-27-15  whiteshark: FBL rd 5 match <Rodewischer SM vs Bad Königshofen> was played last Friday and ended 2:4.

Jun-18-15  waustad: Playing most days on board 4 for Germany at the Mitropa Cup, she makes the German team seem to be split 3-3 by gender, where most are 4-2. This tournament, however, seems to treat the men and women as playing in separate events, unlike the Chinese league where it looks like there must be women playing on the teams. IM Paehtz is by a fair amount the highest rated woman in either section and is also likely to be the only woman there for whom chess is a full time occupation. If I recall from the last Mitropa Cup there were prizes for the open section, women section and overall. The French only sent an open team, so Austria II is paired and seated as if they were the French women. At the moment the Hungarian women lead and the very young open Hungarian team is in last place.
Jun-18-15  waustad: I suppose playing in the Alps must have sent her on a shopping spree. She's playing in a Dirndl. http://www.chess.at/gallery/var/alb... Now she just needs a tray with many beers.
Sep-12-15  waustad: It seems that the chessbase article about her recent marriage is only in German so far: http://de.chessbase.com/post/elisab...
Nov-03-15  waustad: It will be interesting to see who actually plays in the expanded Austrian Frauenbundesliga. If top boards both play, in the first round the top two native German speaking women will meet with Elisabeth Pähtz playing for SK Baden and Eva Moser playing for SV Pamhagen. The latter team is much deeper, with Regina Theissl-Pokorna, who has recently transferred federations to Austria and a total of 5 players rated over 2200.

May-08-16  sonia91: She crossed 2500 in the live ratings playing in the Women's French League: http://www.2700chess.com/women?per-...
May-09-16  waustad: <sonia> I just noticed that. I don't know how many GM norms she has now, since I'm using a tablet and that doesn't allow one to navigate the FIDE menu structure.
May-16-16  whiteshark: Congrats on brea♔ the <2500 barrier>! (◕‿◕✿)

A short interview with her (on her German masters participation, living in and moving from Rome...) http://www.schachbund.de/news/kurzi...

May-16-16  waustad: To answer my own comment, she still has only one GM norm listed on the FIDE website. She may have earned more, but if so they are not yet posted. There seem to be quite a few tournaments that seem designed to make norms possible. 3 older GMs and a group of 7 IMs, WGMs and FMs looking for norms get together to play 9 rounds somewhere.
Oct-16-16  Octavia: Congratulations on getting your grading up! AND playing for Dresden in the Bundesliga proper! You're likely to get another GM norm there!
