Vajda was born in Odorheiu Secuiesc in the county of Harghita in Romania and is one of Romania's top players.

Championships (1)

<Youth> 3rd in the World U12 Championship in 1993 in Bratislava, 3rd in the World U14 Championship in Szeged in 1994, and 3rd in the World U18 Championship in 1998 in in Oropesa del Mar.

<Junior> In 1994 he was 2nd in the European Junior rapid championship .

<National> Vajda was runner up in the Romanian championship in 1998 and 2002, 3rd in 2003, and runner up in 2004 and 2012.

Tournaments

2nd in Egér in 1995 and 2nd in Balatonberény in 1996. First in Bucharest in 1998. Was 1st or =1st on eleven occasions at the GM First Saturday events between 2000 and 2007. Won the 36th Zurich Christmas Open in 2012 with 6/7, the HSG Open 2015 with 5/6 and the Belgian Championship Open 2015, with 8.5/9.

Teams (2)

Represented Romania, mainly as a reserve, at the Olympiads of 1998, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Game results at Olympiads till 2014: +24 =14 -12 (62%). Also represented Romania on board 3 at the European Team Championship (2011). Played board 6 for AS RAT Bucharest at the European Club Cup in 2000. Played board 3 for Roman at the Cuatra Naciones (4 nations) Team Tournament in 2005 (the four nations were Romania, the Catalonia region, Basque Country and Argentina). He won team gold.
