Let me tell ya bout a story of the Democratic clan

I would say that liberalism is liberty from anything oppressing the individual; most importantly <the state>, of course religion comes into play as well but only if this is an oppressive factor.> There is an old saying: When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And Churchill said that Great Britain and America are two nations separated by a common language. My point being that your definition of liberalism is the classical definition, but nowadays in the US it is really an archaic definition. The usage has changed. |

https://offensivetruth.com/free-spe... I posted the link in my forum. Along with <OP>, I think of your website as a "back up", in case this forum gets censored. Until then, I view this forum really as a service to cg.com Over the years, many cg members have objected to the politicization of the Rogoff forum. I defended the status quo, simply because there was no other forum on cg.com that served the same purpose. Now that you've dedicated your forum to political (and other) debate, I support the cleaning up of Rogoff. Let him have a decent player page now, since he was quite a good chess player in his time. |

| Aug-20-20 | | Keyser Soze: So I heard that at the Democratic Party convention, they put Michelle Obama in a direct broadcast from her $ 11 million home, located on Martha's Vineyard island, one of the nation's noblest addresses, to deliver a victim's speech to minority ? Is that correct?

| Aug-20-20 | | Everett: Thing is, each side is claiming they will win in November. What are the bookies saying? |
|
| Aug-20-20 | | Everett: One thing I never understood, is Sanders and the democrats going the “socialist” route, and then claiming that Denmark and Sweden are examples. Denmark and Sweden are market/capitalist economies. Yes, they follow that with high taxes and robust social welfare programs, but their cultures are largely homogenous (until recent immigration). They also come from the “Protestant work-ethic” background. Meaning they are not prone to lazy victim-hood by nature. The US is capitalist first and foremost. It’s how it became so powerful and positive in the first place. It’s not only sad, it’s dangerous where the Democratic Party has gone, ideologically. |
|
| Aug-21-20 | | thegoodanarchist: The last couple of lines of Trump's new advert on youtube: <The radical Left... These people are crazy, and we have to stop them. Thank you very much.> Exactly! Thank you, President Trump, for stating the obvious, when most RINOs won't. |

 | | Troller: <My point being that your definition of liberalism is the classical definition, but nowadays in the US it is really an archaic definition. The usage has changed.> Yes, I gathered as much. But how does a classic liberal describe himself in the US today? I am curious because it seems the gorge between the Democrats and the Republicans has become so deep that there is no middle way. You have to pick side and then stick to it, leaving no room for criticism of your own leaders, as the ranks are very closed. When I read this forum, I see that Joe Biden is straight down unfit for office. As I assume no one knows him personally, this must be public knowledge. So we have one candidate A who is publicly known to be unable to function as president. His adversary candidate B moreover has two important factors working for him: -he is running for reelection, always an edge
-he is president during a global crisis, always a significant edge As he is running against arguably the poorest candidate in history, anything but a landslide victory is unthinkable. It would really take a major mess-up by candidate B to avoid this scenario. This is seemingly not the case, as he routinely <embarasses> the opposition. Yet when I look at current polls, these seem not to substantiate this reality. Polls being polls, I know, but this is after all the most lopsided election in history? Point being that if you are unable to criticise your own side (or approve and learn from the other side), this could turn into a rude awakening. I realize not all in this forum are supporters of democracy, but as long as that is in place, one must expect tides to turn. |

|
| Aug-21-20 | | Everett: <Troller> well put. The gorge does seem deep, and my buddy down South is basically saying be prepared for some rough times post election night. In any case, just like 2016, each side was sure that they were going to win by a landslide. So 35% or more of the country is going to be very upset after the election, likely violently upset. |

| Aug-21-20 | | thegoodanarchist: <Troller: <<<My point being that your definition of liberalism is the classical definition, but nowadays in the US it is really an archaic definition. The usage has changed.>>> Yes, I gathered as much. But how does a classic liberal describe himself in the US today?> I am not sure anymore. Maybe "old line" or "old school" Democrat? Maybe "classical liberal"? Sorry I cannot be of more help.
<When I read this forum, I see that Joe Biden is straight down unfit for office. As I assume no one knows him personally, this must be public knowledge.> IMO, if you just watch a few public appearances, if you watch videos of him speaking in the last 9 months or so, it is starkly evident that he is in cognitive decline. That's why it is so important to have the debates - so the "low information" voters can see for themselves. <As he is running against arguably the poorest candidate in history, anything but a landslide victory is unthinkable.> I thought Michael Dukakis was the poorest candidate in history. <Yet when I look at current polls, these seem not to substantiate this reality. Polls being polls, I know, but this is after all the most lopsided election in history?> There are many many people who are not aware just how extreme the Dems have become. Trump's personality rubs them the wrong way - they don't like him personally. So they will unwittingly vote for their own enslavement simply because they focus on the wrong thing. They focus on the personality of the candidate, instead of policy. <Point being that if you are unable to criticise your own side (or approve and learn from the other side), this could turn into a rude awakening. I realize not all in this forum are supporters of democracy, but as long as that is in place, one must expect tides to turn.> IMO, the decline of America is inevitable. It is beyond salvage at this point. Another 4 years of Trump just buys me time to reach my financial goals. Then I will relocate to someplace rural or extremely conservative. |

In addition to being a successful cartoonist, Adams is trained in hypnotism and is an expert on persuasion. He explained how TDS is a real phenomenon. Sorry, <OCF>, but I don't have a link handy. |

"The protesters could be seen marching through the streets and screaming “ya’ll never gonna sleep cuz of me, I ain’t gonna sleep cuz of ya’ll.”" Ya'll never gonna sleep cuz of me.
I found the article originally on Amren.com. Here are some comments from the Amren comment thread. "It will continue until officials grow balls and order rioter arrested, and if necessary, shot for resisting arrest, for arson or for looting." The next one was nested under the top one.
"I'm afraid we are rapidly approaching far more effective counter measures than that." |
