| Dec-28-14 | | technical draw: Well I managed to make it to the top ten with just one big bet. If i hadn't won that bet (a Magnus win of all things) I would have wound up with only 500 cb's. Longshots rule! |
|
| Dec-28-14 | | ChessWriter: Yea, I second that idea to qualify another runner-up. I was in 11th place until he final day, and then got popped to 13th! Plus, we have so few qualifiers this year.... |
|
| Dec-28-14 | | dakgootje: It could be considered a next leg, even though I probably wouldn't voice my support to it. Changing the rules during the game would make it arbitrary though. Why this leg, and not previous legs? How many additional qualifiers, 1, 2, 3, more? Moreover, in case of other qualifiers, others might feel cheated - because they based they betting and risk-taking on the current system of qualification. <and also to <dakgootje> for qualifying 3 times (Winter, Summer and Fall).> Merci. It was a nice run - especially given several bouts of inactivity [first half of summer; second half of fall] for different reasons. I'm sad to say that it will very likely end here. With the start of the Championship leg, I'll also start a new 40h/w job - which won't allow me to bet during weekdays. |

Dec-28-14
 | | Annie K.: <Switch> thanks, I will need it! :D And I am so stealing <wordfunph>'s ideas. ;p |

| Dec-29-14 | | dakgootje: Yeah, but you see everything.. ;)
The working isn't the main hassle. More that I probably won't be able to bet during working hours, and therefore miss closing time, which is really killing for my overall strategy. |

Dec-30-14
 | | Chessgames Bookie: The Championship Leg will begin on January 4th!
The Chessbookie for the Championship Leg will be <Annie K.> I will be spending some time between now and then to show her the ropes. All accounts now have 1000 chessbucks during the testing phase (the qualifiers do not get an extra 9000 during testing.) During that time, some test bets will appear (some of them realistic, others just jokes). You can bet on these or not, it doesn't matter: your accounts will be reset on January 4th. Note about <PayDay> — We are keeping the rule, and not modifying it for the Championship Leg. So for the people with 10,000+ dollars an infusion of an extra 1000 won't mean a whole lot, but for the underdogs trying to play catch-up it might have a significant effect. We'll see how it goes. Note about <Annie K.> Because Annie has qualified for the Championship Leg, and is now forgoing that opportunity, she will be automatically seeded in the 2016 Championship. We really all owe her one for her selfless dedication. I have a feeling she'll make a great bookie. So stay tuned, get ready for the high stakes action, and good luck! |

Dec-30-14
 | | WannaBe: Way to go <Annie K.>!! I've just placed my first 'wager', gold will be below 1.2K. Now, let's get some Crude Oil going, will it be under £45 or not? =) |
|
| Dec-30-14 | | wordfunph: <Annie K.> all the best and my assurance you'll enjoy as bookie! |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | Annie K.: Thanks! =)
OK, here's the news:
1. I intend to remember to make sure that all bet intro links (to tournaments official sites, etc.) should open in new windows or tabs, so you can click on them without losing your betting page at cg. 2. I expect the most difficult part of this job to be locating upcoming rounds/games to make bets for, that are both already paired, and still have enough time left before starting that y'all should have time to place your bets for a decent-sized pool. So if any of you would like to pitch in by posting links to tournament schedule pages here, that would be most welcome! :) 3. If it, at any point, seems to you that I'm stealing ideas from <Switch> and <wordfunph>, that's probably because this is exactly what I intend to do. :p 4. Have fun, and now for our traditional statistical impossibility: Good luck to everybody! :) |
|
| Dec-31-14 | | dakgootje: Let me return that with a statistically possible: Good luck being The Bookie ^^ Especially with finding pick-3 possibilities during weekends. The most & luckiest of luck with that ;D |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: At least until you have a safe lead? :-) |

Dec-31-14
 | | Penguincw: < Will Annie Be Late For Work Today? > She works at <cg>, and she can arrive late! Lucky... Anyway, good luck during this Championship leg (no pressure). :) |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | Annie K.: Heh, thanks! :)
<Penguincw> Not *that* work, the other work! ;p Since this isn't the real leg yet, and I wanted to assure myself that everything works fine from the user end too, I also placed a small bet on the most likely outcome (being under 10 minutes late, that is), which I then subsequently lost by unexpectedly arriving on time. :s Will tend to payoffs a bit later today... ;) |

 | | WannaBe: <3. If it, at any point, seems to you that I'm stealing ideas from <Switch> and <wordfunph>, that's probably because this is exactly what I intend to do. :p> Ah, yes, imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery... |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | Chessgames Bookie: The first bets have been paid off! :)
Incidentally, I can't see exactly who bet on what, so thanks to everybody who believed in me, though I won't reveal which option(s) I mean by that. :D BTW, the Gold wager was set up by Daniel as an example for me, not by me. I wouldn't even know how to find a site like that! ;) Annie |

Will Annie Be Late For Work Today? : Arrives on time [cash in ticket] 5 YOU WIN! COLLECT 23 4:1 4.77 23 Dec-31-14 Okay, I bet 5 cbs on every outcome, like I said would. :) Oh, here's a suggestion for the preseason leg: Who will be declared champion this leg? Don't forget to include my name so you'll know how to refund a player who withdraws. ;) |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | Annie K.: I already know how to do that. :)
And paradoxes give me a headache... ;p
I'd like to put up bets for Hastings, but they hadn't posted tomorrow's pairings yet. Maybe later! |

 | | chessgames.com: <I expect the most difficult part of this job to be locating upcoming rounds/games to make bets for, that are both already paired, and still have enough time left before starting that y'all should have time to place your bets for a decent-sized pool.> Yes, that is exactly the hardest part. Not to mention, to also figure out the time-zone conversion so you know when the close the betting window, and to figure out their furshlugginer foreign websites. You'll do fine. |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | Annie K.: Thanks <cg>! :)
I've used http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo... to convert the Chennai bet closing time to server time, assuming the Chess-Results site gave times as inputted by the local federation, and that *they* had local times in mind. ;s |
|
Dec-31-14
 | | WannaBe: Why is betting GOLD: Over/under $1200 Friday January 2nd. closing even before 2014 is over? Server time. =)) |

 | | Penguincw: Wow. I didn't realize Will Annie Be Late For Work Today? was a semi-jackpot: User: lilfoohk had 200 on it, and I had 5. |
