Chessgames Bookie: <eternaloptimist: <Bookie> Could we wager on some TCEC games?>

I thought about that <eternaloptimist> but there have been some cancellations over there involving the engine Chiron & it is too hard to figure out when these games will start. I'm sorry but I will have to say no about that. Norway Chess is next.

Chessgames Bookie: The Norway Chess blitz segment was won by
GM So with a score of 6/9. GM's Nakamura & Anand tied for 2nd with scores of 5.5/9. Carlsen was 4th with 5/9.

Now we just wait to see what the pairings look like. I will have games posted as soon as they become available.

eternaloptimist: <Bookie> That's ok. Since it's hard to tell when the games are going to start I understand your decision. Chiron crashed 3 times and got disqualified from the tournament. It wouldn't surprise me if Martin Thoresen doesn't let it compete in TCEC ever again since it has stability issues on his computer system. Thanks for doing a great job on this leg of <CB>!

Chessgames Bookie: Thanks for understanding <eternaloptimist>. I almost posted some games from the TCEC. I wanted to put up the Komodo-Stockfish game which I see ended in a draw but had no idea when to end the betting because of the cancellations. They have no set times & begin new games as soon as a match is over.
May-28-18  morfishine: What, no rest days for engines?!? lol

OhioChessFan: A thought just hit me. Can a person borrow money so that it raises their betting limit? If so, I have to say I have a very dim view of that.

Annie K.: No. Your betting limit is determined by your net worth, not your funds.

However, borrowing from Sharkie frequently does improve your relations with him (aside from the part where he threatens to send his boys after you etc.) ;p - so he may offer you bigger loans over time if you're a regular customer. Which makes it a good idea to pay him visits when you're in the area. ;)

OhioChessFan: Oh yeah, Carlsen and over. Big bucks! Can someone actually win at this by simply trying to predict the results?
May-28-18  Count Wedgemore: When I start my title defense next winter in the Championship Leg, seems like one of the main challenges will come from the great state of Ohio. Well, all I can say is: BRING IT ON!
May-28-18  Count Wedgemore: I'm shouting again, aren't I? Sorry about that.
May-29-18  morfishine: I got a sneaking suspicion everybody has huge loans out from this loan shark, I may have to join the party

eternaloptimist: <Bookie> No problem...I was hoping to bet on some Stockfish games since I'm a huge fan of it but like u said right after a game ends another 1 begins. That makes it difficult to set the "time left" to bet on games. I've actually chatted w/ its main programmer (Tord Romstad) before on chessbomb.com in the past when they've shown TCECs live. We would talk about chess engines, programming languages etc.. I've done some programming in the past & am thinking about getting back into it. He's a really cool & intelligent guy.

<morf> Chiron could use a rest YEAR for their programmers to try to debug it so it won't crash during tournaments. Last year it finished 5th but it had problems this year

Chessgames Bookie: I have put up our first 'exotic' bet for the Spring Leg in Round 4. The bet is called "Knights vs. Bishops'. I tried to make the explanation easy to understand in the bet's description box. If there are any questions about this bet feel free to ask. Good luck in your choices!
May-30-18  wordfunph: nice <CG Bookie>, under/over is getting boring. We hope for more erotic bets :)

moronovich: The most exotic bet we never had, would be:Name The Last Move (just the square),but that will take 64 lines.

lol...well I don't know about 'erotic'. I've always thought that the bishop is the most erotic looking piece but I better not go there. <chessgames> might frown on that. We will have a few more 'exotic' bets though. :)

It's doable. ;)

But of course, if that's too much, then it can simply be done just by file, or rank.

May-31-18  wordfunph: whatevah, we thirst for most erotic bets please?
May-31-18  morfishine: Hey, the Loan shark "loaned" me 500 chessbucks I didn't ask for. Is this normal? Yesterday, after all bets had closed, I had 586 chessbucks with 769 borrowed. I wagered all 586 chessbucks for the 6/1 games leaving me at zero. I woke up this morning and I have 500 chessbucks and my borrowed amount increased to 1269

Seems weird, but I'll keep it, I need the capital!
