 | | Chessgames Bookie: This is enough B.S. to cause a Bookie to contemplate retirement. |
Jun-02-18
 | | Annie K.: No... Just enough to learn that <you> make the decisions, and nobody has the right to push you around. You're doing fine. :) |
Jun-02-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Don't worry about that <Annie K.>. Nobody will push me around I assure you of that! ;) |
Jun-02-18
 | | Annie K.: Very good. :D
Btw, you don't need Daniel to refund a line. Just go to the winner bet, and use the refund option (same box as payoffs option) and choose Liren's line (5). |
Jun-02-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: I'm letting Daniel handle this one. |
Jun-02-18
 | | chessgames.com: No problem, all bets on Ding have been refunded. |
| Jun-02-18 | | wordfunph: <Norway Chess 2018 : PICK THE WINNER! : Ding Liren [collect refund] 100 REFUND 100 1.00 100 Jun-07-18> amigos, gracias :) |

| Jun-02-18 | | wordfunph: <Norway Chess 2018 Round 5 : Carlsen - Anand : Draw [info] 1000 LIVE BET 2:3 1.66 1,660 Jun-02-18> go draw! |
| Jun-02-18 | | technical draw: I think someone won 9,000cbs in that last double. |
| Jun-02-18 | | zborris8: <cg: all bets on Ding have been refunded.> I disagree. Norway Chess 2018 : PICK THE WINNER! I think that the entire Win Bet has to be cancelled. Each wager was made with contingencies based on Ding's presence. His absence changes the tournament dynamic, and the setting that had been understood when the wagers were orignally locked in place. |

Jun-02-18
 | | chessgames.com: From ChessBookie Game Help Page "Discrepancies/disputes" section: <6. Wagers on a player who cancels prior to the event, or withdraws for unforseen circumstances, are graded as "No Action" and all chessbucks on that player shall be refunded. Wagers on players who forfeit shall be considered losses and no refunds issued.> Now you might argue, "So that proves that Ding should be refunded, but it doesn't explicitly say that the other players shouldn't also be refunded!" True, but that's a very convoluted interpretation. As written it's a classic example of "the exception that proves the rule." If the intention was to call the whole bet off, that clause would have said as much, but it didn't. It only discusses how to handle the player who was either forfeited or withdrawn. Therefore the intention is obvious: if something happens to one player, we take action on that one player, and the remainder of the bet stands. In any case, we could argue this all day, but in the end it's all superseded by this clause: <9. Notwithstanding anything in this agreement, in the event of any dispute regarding a wager or winnings, the decision of the Chessgames Bookie will be final and binding in all matters.> With that in mind, let's not make this into such a big deal that nobody wants to volunteer to be next season's bookie. |
| Jun-03-18 | | centralfiles: <sneaky> the problem here is that the bet was still open after ding games was cancelled had it been cancelled after we could of course simply maintain such chances were included in the bet. |
| Jun-03-18 | | morfishine: Wow, this is fun, I just hit a 4,400 CB score on a 9-1 So victory over MC I'm back in business baby! lol |
Jun-03-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Way to go <morf>! Now get yourself on the Leaderboard. ;) |
| Jun-03-18 | | morfishine: <Chessgames Bookie> I hope so, I think I figured out what <Rhino> is doing: max out, all or nothing lol ***** |
| Jun-03-18 | | WinKing: <morfishine: I think I figured out what <Rhino> is doing: max out, all or nothing lol> He does do that a lot <morf> but not always. Exercise caution with that tactic. That can be a quick trip to the basement. |

| Jun-04-18 | | zborris8: I don't know a lot about gambling. So I'm trying to learn how to get better. Someone told me that the way to pay off my large debt was to employ the hedge-bet tactic. It's a tactic that's all business. You don't get caught up in favorites but only look at the ratings and the odds. You make a large bet to draw, and a smaller one for the stronger player to win. If it's a draw, then you get your money back, and if it's a win, you get a little profit to pay back your loans. They told me this was almost a sure thing. I tried it today on So-Carlsen and lost $1300, haha! |
| Jun-04-18 | | centralfiles: <zborris> you would need to calculate the favorites actual chance of winning vs losing with the odds...
More often than not its the underdog who's better value here. |
| Jun-04-18 | | morfishine: <zborris8> Maximize your leverage then depend on luck Good luck |
| Jun-05-18 | | morfishine: I wonder what the formula is for the bookie to offer a loan or inquire about paying back a loan? |
| Jun-05-18 | | morfishine: This is fun, I tried to pay back my loan with zero funds available, but old Sicily figured it out lol |
| Jun-05-18 | | zborris8:
<centralfiles: better think about the underdog> Uh. Looks like I got more learnin' to do, haha! <morfishine> Thanks, always! Good luck to both of you!
