 | | Chessgames Bookie: What a close race we had in the Spring Leg of the ChessBookie game. <Annie K.> edged out <OhioChessFan> by 3 chessbucks. It doesn't get much closer than that folks! Congratulations <Annie K.>! I will let <chessgames> know that the Leg is completed so they can check everything over. |

 | | OhioChessFan: Wow, tossed $20 on the final round Pick 3 just to do it...ah well. |
| Jun-24-18 | | sydbarrett: $20 can buy you two really tasty meals.I was in Manhattan yesterday so i bought $20 if Chic-Fill-A after exam and im still eating it. I rarely go to Manhattan the last few years |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Almost forgot, congrats to all those that finished in the Top 10 of this Spring Leg! You are entered into the Winter Championship Leg 2019 starting out with 10K chessbucks. |
| Jun-24-18 | | morfishine: Congrats <Annie K>! Nice Job! You caught the cry-baby <OhioCluelessFan>! Well Done!

Jun-24-18
 | | OhioChessFan: I might join you <syd> Kind of funny in a way, really unbelievable. |
| Jun-24-18 | | technical draw: Great finish. Congratulations to <Annie K>. <OhioChessFan> Too bad, you were a contender for the longest time. But that happens all the time in the horse races, you take a quick look back and someone zips right by you. |

 | | Penguincw: < 1) Annie K. 8,274
(2) OhioChessFan 8,271 >
Oof. Is that the closest finish ever? But at least you qualified! I'm more surprised on how fast the leaderboard accelerated. Within days 10th place went from about 3500 to 5700. |

We'll be training a new bookie so some test-bets might pop up. Feel free to play with them (or not) — they won't count toward the actual game. If anybody has the time and inclination to help with this upcoming leg, we are a bit short handed, so let me know here and/or by emailing chess@chessgames.com. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Congratulations <Annie>! |
| Jun-24-18 | | sydbarrett: I think Annie was playing Final Jeopardy with that final result. Good job oK! ::clap clap:: P.S. Let WinKing train the bookie. He does it the best. |
| Jun-24-18 | | wallytherhino: <OhioCluelessFan> just learned what happens you sit on a lead and let the competitors inch into your position piece by piece. The quality of play was really high this overall. 10th place <kurtrichards >recorded a 288.90% growth of his 2000CB capital. I made a final push on the last two tournaments and it did not work out. <mike1>, <yiotta>, <paulvankerkhof>, <priyamvada munjal>, <pandemic>, <Jammer>, congratulations on your first top 10. <kurtrichards> Congratulations on your fourth top 10 finish. |

Jun-24-18
 | | Annie K.: So... it would seem to appear that I won? Kewl. :D Actually, I was only aiming for a top-10 finish, taking into account the usual last-day surge (aka "staying in place is probably not gonna be enough"). It just didn't take much to land in first place this leg, rather surprisingly. Thanks for the compliments, everybody. :)
Also thanks to <WinKing> for the hard work running this leg, and congratulations to all the top-10 finishers (even if <Ohio> isn't feeling very lucky right now)... Oh, and I think I'm going to claim that this proves that running the Bookie will improve your game, and y'all really should consider trying to run at least one leg. It doesn't actually work that way, but we *are* that desperate. ;p |

Jun-25-18
 | | moronovich: Congratulations <Annie K> ! |
| Jun-25-18 | | morfishine: Isn't the main requirement to run the bookie game is flexibility or to have specific free time available? This way payouts can be made briskly so winnings can be re-wagered in a timely fashion? For example, someone that works M-F 9-5 would probably not be a good candidate (unless they could work the bookie while actually working). It seems retired folk would be the best candidate(s) |
| Jun-25-18 | | morfishine: Do we get a special award for finishing in the bottom 10? |
Jun-25-18
 | | eternaloptimist: Congrats to <Annie K.> on winning the Spring Leg! That was a great come from behind victory! I'd also like to say congrats to the rest of the top 10! |
| Jun-26-18 | | sydbarrett: I just looked at the bottom of the leaderboard and what did I see! I thought I was bold, and I was wrong. -9000, -13000. Ha ha how is that even possible!
More people should play this game. If like you chess and you like betting, you should like this game |
| Jun-26-18 | | WinKing: So who is the new bookie? Do we know this person? |
Jun-26-18
 | | Annie K.: See: Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #11358). :) He will (hopefully) be taking over for the Fall leg, but since we have some quiet time until Dortmund, we'll use it to let him learn the ropes now, and make sure he'll be feeling up to it. The Summer leg will probably be run by me, unless somebody else wants to step up and take it (in which case I would "only" have to do the Championship Leg again) - now that would be nice. ;) |
| Jun-26-18 | | WinKing: Yeah, I remember that now <Annie K.>. I wasn't sure if he was serious but that's great. Now if we could just get at least one more. No one should have to do 2 legs a year. |
| Jun-26-18 | | morfishine: If I was a retired person, I'd help out, I just don't think I could commit properly what with work and all |
| Jun-26-18 | | WinKing: It would be difficult <morf> for a person with a 9-5 job to handle this game properly. You know how this clan gets if they don't get paid in a timely manner. Retirees are the perfect recruits but they are a crabby lot(I know I'm one of em'). ;) |
Jun-26-18
 | | OhioChessFan: I will do the next round of Bookie, at the very low wage rate of 4 chessbucks, to be paid retroactively on June 24. |
Jun-27-18
 | | Penguincw: Congrats to <Annie K.> for winning the leg in a very dramatic fashion (I didn't see that coming). Congrats to the other qualifiers, and here's to the new leg (and good luck to the new bookie)! |
