Chessgames Bookie: Betting on the Batumi Chess Olympiad is now open!

Olympiad: WINNER
Olympiad (Women): WINNER
Olympiad: Best individual performance
Olympiad: Best individual performance (USA)

--

See the official site (https://batumi2018.fide.com/en) and Chess-Results (http://chess-results.com/tnr368908....) for more information. Please note that while team compositions ought to be final at this point, the currently listed board numbers are based on alphabetical ordering and should not be taken as a reliable indicator of the board any player will actually play on.

The Olympiad will be the final event of the Summer Leg, and your last opportunity to move up the leaderboard. Don't be afraid of taking risks - you have nothing to lose but play-money and your reputation and an awful lot of time spent refreshing pages waiting for new moves or results to appear.

(Chessgames.com, Chessgames Services LLC and the Chessgames Bookie will not be accountable if you do lose something else.)

Good luck everybody, and have fun!

Sep-09-18  Count Wedgemore: Will there be the customary $1000 payout to all the players this leg? If so, it's already running a bit late, isn't it? IIRC, usually we receive the extra 1k around the middle of the leg, and we're already way past that now, aren't we?

Chessgames Bookie: <Count Wedgemore> We're aware of the lateness of Pay Day. The problem is that the Pay Day code can only be executed by the webmaster, and he's had a lot of other things to occupy him lately.

Pay Day is actually a fairly recent invention (the first one was only four years ago, during the 2014 Summer Leg); so a leg without a Pay Day would be far from unprecedented. Currently, though, it's still our plan to have a Pay Day some time soon. Stay tuned!

Annie K.: PayDay has been paid out now. Good luck for the last event of the leg, folks!
Sep-26-18  sydbarrett: Oh darn I missed Pay Day.
Personally I find betting on the final score more interesting than betting on the result. Gl to all you who are still in the running.
P.s. I'm chagrined to say I honestly didn't know who the "Daniel Freeman" was in those July 4th bets. Thanks Daniel for helping make this site possible, wherever you've gone now, mate.

Chessgames Bookie: Betting on the final round of the Olympiad (and the ChessBookie Summer Leg) is now open:

Olympiad rd 11: United States - China: Exact Score
Olympiad rd 11: France - Russia
Olympiad rd 11: India - Poland
Olympiad (Women) rd 11: Russia - China
Olympiad (Women) rd 11: United States - Ukraine
Olympiad: Gaprindashvili Cup

Please note that the final round will start at 11:00 local time, four hours earlier than the first ten rounds. Good luck everybody, and have fun!

A player no one bet on, Jorge Cori of Peru, currently leads the field in TPR. Here's the official procedure for what will happen if Cori's lead holds:

1) I will rub the fact that I offered him as an option in the first place (ahead of many higher-rated players) in everyone's face;

2) The player with the second-highest TPR will pay out as the winner, consistent with our established procedure for when no one placed a bet on the winning line and there's a clear next-best option.

Chessgames Bookie: The Summer Leg is now over. Congratulations to first-time winner <4tmac> and the nine qualifying runners-up!

We will verify the final results to make sure they're accurate and there hasn't been any foul play.

--

Also: Jorge Cori did finish with the highest TPR! But since no one else saw it coming, the player with the second-highest TPR (Ding Liren) paid out as the winner of Olympiad: Best individual performance.

Oct-06-18  sydbarrett: Hurrah 4tmac. Nice consistent season from you. The veteran Chnebe made a strong final push, and morf had a fine season too. 👏👏👏
