Chessgames Bookie: Varishnakov is correct. Sorry about that. Same goes for the 0.5 - 2.5 result. In this case we´ll pay based on the loser score. Yes, 0 - 4 cannot happen, but we will pay 0 - 4 line for a 0 - 2.5 result.
May-27-20  morfishine: I was wondering where the great <wallytherhino> was, and there he is in first place! Nice showing wally!
May-28-20  sydbarrett: Guys I took the betting skills from playing bookie and am using them on stocks now. But I'll still play here too with above-average interest. Thanks for sharpening my talent. Carlsen demolishing Wesley really put a bad start to my leg. I was really expecting Wesley to at least try to not be embarrassed like that.

P.S. I just read some old posts that I missed and learned about some minor avatar issue. I'll go see if it matters to me. Thanks for pointing it out, Annie. Ok, I just looked and I approve of the HOF avatar--- I think it's adorable. And yes, long live the Floyd morfishine. May you Shine On as well. And excellent job so far Wally and Vari. I am impressed.

Annie K.: <sydbarrett> while I agree that that's a very cute avatar, the issue is that it's not yours; it's the avatar used by and associated with <moronovich> - it just got copied over from last year by accident. If you tried to choose this avatar from the avatars' list you would find that you can't, because it's already taken by another member, and to avoid confusion we don't allow duplicate use.

At the moment there is no urgent reason to correct the Hall of Fame page, but at the end of this leg - when it gets updated again - this error will be rectified. If at that time you will be using another avatar, we will copy it; otherwise we will correct the graphic to the generic "premium member" avatar that you are using now, and you will be the first Bookie Champion on record with no unique avatar of his own.

<Everybody> please stay tuned for an announcement about this year's qualifications rules and Championship Leg prizes...

  chessgames.com: <♕♔♕ Bettors and Worse ♕♔♕>

As we start this year's ChessBookie cycle with the Summer Leg, I would first like to thank our fearless new Bookie <jingohanson>, who made it possible to continue the game.

Next, I hereby announce in advance the prizes, and some changes to the qualification quotas this cycle, given the significantly lower number of players.

Please note that the qualifiers' quota from the Summer and Fall legs will be the top 6 Bookie players instead of the top 10. This year, we will still qualify the top 10 from the previous Championship Leg, since we know that everybody would have played differently if they knew that only the top 6 would qualify. ;) Well, that and we can afford a few more places since we didn't hold a Spring Leg.

But from now on, and unless/until there is a significant rise in the player numbers, it will be the top 6 only from each leg who qualify to start the next Championship Leg with 10,000 chessbucks. Otherwise, with player numbers as low as 80, we may have up to a full half of the players starting as qualifiers, instead of the intended "small elite group".

However, we will still continue to recognize the achievements of the full top 10 in the Hall of Fame. :)

Likewise, since we must sadly acknowledge that finishing ahead of 80 rivals cannot merit the same gravitas as finishing ahead of hundreds, the Championship Leg prizes will also be somewhat reduced.

<These will be the prizes for the next cycle: <>>

<Regular (Summer and Fall) Legs: <<*>>>

<First place> 1 year of Premium Membership

<Places 1-6> qualification for the Championship Leg

<Places 1-10> recorded in the illustrious annals of the Hall of Fame.

<Championship (Winter) Leg: <<*>>>

<First place> 1 year of Premium Membership, a 20$ coupon to the Chessgames Store, and qualification for the next Championship Leg.

<Places 2-6> 4 months of Premium Membership and qualification for the next Championship Leg.

<Places 1-10> recorded in the illustrious annals of the Hall of Fame.

(* inasmuch as they take place - don't forget to be nice to your Bookie...)

Good luck and have fun, everybody! :)

Jun-22-20  morfishine: MVL-Nepo has close date 6-23 but settlement date 6-22
Jun-26-20  jingohanson: Oops. Then people could have bet after the game was over. Good eye Morfishine.
Jun-27-20  morfishine: <jingohanson> I think you are doing a great job and its good to see you playing so well!

But I just got paid on two bets that were supposed to settle on 6-29

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I needed the Chess Bucks! lol

Just thought you'd want to know

Jul-03-20  jvb.oziana: Dear Bookie: Carlsen was black in game 1 yet you wrote it as Carlsen- Giri, and again Magnus was black in game 3 where you put up the bet for his first move as white. Any effort on your part to fix these mistakes would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Chessgames Bookie: Sorry, but the bet for First move, Game 3, is defective. I thought that Carlsen would have white, which was not the case. We´ll have to cancel that bet.
Jul-03-20  jvb.oziana: I put a bet down for Carlsen winning his first game with white, but that was game 2 not game 1. The bet you put up should be refunded. Not everyone can go to the site to watch the games. Its your job to know who is white and who is black when you put up a betting window. Its not our (my) job to guess. THANK YOU

Chessgames Bookie: You're right jvb.oziana. It's my job and I made a mistake. I apologize. We'll refund that one too.

I'll be more careful in formulating the bets so that there is no room for confusion. But I'll probably make more mistakes, so please be patient as I learn this job.

Is anyone's net worth potentially going to change as result of your looking into the "How many 0-0" bet? This info will help us all plan our strategies.
