For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

#1.) Life should not be bereft of beauty ... indeed, it is the magic of the chess pieces - as they dance - that so entertains us all.

"Say Something" by Pentatonix.
(It was so good, the first time that I heard it, it brought tears to my eyes.)

#2.) "Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy." - (One of the greatest writers and players of all time), - GM Siegbert Tarrasch.

HI!!! My name is A J Goldsby and I am a (U.S.C.F.) Original LIFE-Master from Pensacola, FL. (USA) [I.e., in order to to gain the LM title, this means that I played over 300 rated games while maintaining a master's rating. (2200+)] Be sure to visit my main chess website at http://www.lifemasteraj.com, or http://www.ajschess.com. My e-mail (address) is <<"LifeMasterAJ(at)yahoo.com.">> (Hint: DON'T use the quotation marks ... or the brackets!!!)

Please note (quite a number of years ago) that the U.S. Chess Federation (http://main.uschess.org/) stopped awarding the "LIFE Master" title. To be very plain, this was all politics, and I was a part of this process ... although I fought against the change. The main reason that the USCF stopped awarding the LM title was that FIDE (http://www.fide.com/) thought that the title "took away" from their "FIDE Master" (FM) title, although since their norm is based only on 25 (or often less) games, that an FM is often much weaker than the average LM. (Certainly there is no comparing the number 300 with 25, that's just silly.)

I am a popular reviewer of chess books ... here is my profile on the "Amazon" website. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profil...)

A note on my current avatar: (Iron Man)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Man

I have been reading comic books ever since I was a little boy. You name it, I read it. (In fact, I had the #1 issue of the following comics ... Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, and Man-thing ... my mother burned a box full of these after her "conversion." Too bad, too. Today, I could sell them all and never worry about money again.)

Hulk, Fantastic Four and Spiderman are some of my favorites from the Marvel Group. (I also read DC as well.) But my chances of ever becoming one of them are slim and none. "Iron Man", however, is a different story. Put on a suit ... and become a super-hero? The possibilities are both endless and enchanting, I guess there is a little bit of Walter Mitty in all of us.

Tuesday; January 14th, 2014: I was visiting the CB website when I learned that Vugar Gashimov had passed away.

I immediately thought that this was a terrible tragedy, and I must memorialize him in my header. This CB article is nice: http://en.chessbase.com/post/gm-vug.... (I will add more links - later.)

LIFE Master AJ: PLEASE!! James Rousselle ... please post a few of your very best games. Louisiana State chess mag had dozens of wonderful games from back in the day. BTW - Jim has personally told me that he is no longer interested in playing rated chess anymore and considers himself retired.

   Feb-22-26 Z Zhang vs Naiditsch, 2003 (replies)

LIFE Master AJ: I guessed the first move ... only because it was Sunday. (But it had no real idea of how to win, there were a few ideas - but NO clear wins on the horizon!) Black - for the rest of the game - seemed helpless on dark squares. Since the actual end of the game was so many moves ...

   Feb-11-26 A J Goldsby vs Jonsson, 1980

LIFE Master AJ: Another thing .... Iceland is a fairly small country .... by population. Yet they have a fantastic ratio of chess masters compared to the ratio of total chess players. (At one time, it was the best in Europe.); And Jonsson literally means "the son of John/Jon." It is one of ...

   Dec-17-25 M Larrea vs D Izquierdo, 2001 (replies)

LIFE Master AJ: Nice combo. I did not see it immediately, only after I had looked a bit. I really liked the Knight check on g4. That is when you say: "Oh-oh, this isn't about winning material - it's a King-hunt!" Excellent problem. I plan on studying this game later today. I am not a premium

   Dec-14-25 Martirosyan vs V Nevednichy, 2014

LIFE Master AJ: I GUESSED the first move ... based on the fact that it was a Sunday ... but I had no concrete variations after that. VERY impressive!!!! (But what does the engine say?)

LIFE Master AJ: Maybe I heard of this guy b4 ... But I had a stroke in 2019, and now it seems like I have never heard of him. [But whole chunks of memory are gone. About 2 years ago, a guy came to chess club. He recalled my being able to remember all the moves of all the games in the ...
