Memorable CG Kibitzers' Quotes

Kibitzer's Corner
< Earlier Kibitzing  · PAGE 24 OF 55 ·  Later Kibitzing>
Apr-29-09  arsen387: from 4th FIDE Grand Prix (2009) about the last round <karoaper: Mathematically speaking, the Pareto Optimal equilibrium for Aronian-Leko game is a draw, reached through a series of moves that do not look weak. Of course, since chess is a game with imperfect information, the Pareto Optimal draw is unlikely. The Nash equilibrium is probably also a draw, though one that reveals a definite strategy to get a draw.

Now see, if there was no Wikipedia around, I wouldn't have been able to sound like I know what the hell I'm talking about.

Apr-29-09  WhiteRook48: Odd Lie
<Sicilian Dragon: <0o0o0o0o0> I did not lol at your avatar>
Apr-30-09  WhiteRook48: <chancho: Nakamura really hates creative ideas and loves to play dull positional chess. (usually eschewing tactics)>
May-01-09  WhiteRook48: check out the title of this collection: Game Collection: The Lion, the Devil(Tal) and the Madman(Fischer)
May-03-09  Sicilian Dragon: From the Odd Lie page

<0o0o0o0o0: There is not a dead Panda in my trunk.

0o0o0o0o0: I should not have capitailised panda in my previous post because pandas aren't superheros.>

<TheKingOfSpades: white doesn't even have to play here, black is beating himself.>

May-05-09  whatthefat: From Silvio Danailov on Feb-09-09,

<square dance>: not to get off topic, but the sort of effect ive experienced from smoking marijuana is that <only> your short term memory is affected. so dont get high and wander off into the kitchen looking for munchies while carrying the remote.

im always happy to debate the pros and cons of weed smoking on my forum if anyone feels so inclined.

<Jim Bartle>: What were you saying there, square dance? I seem to have wandered off.

<Augalv>: I'm sorry, what was being discussed here?

<acirce>: Wow, I can't believe I'm the first one to kibitz on this page.

May-05-09  whatthefat: From Alekhine vs Capablanca, 1938 on May-10-08,

<The Rocket>: "If Capa had the stroke before this game, it had to have an effect on him.To what degree, that is anybody's guess."

Nope not according to himself anyway. He said thankfully his brain was not effected at all by the stroke(chess wise), and mentioned that he got winning advantages in many of his games but failed to exploit them.

<Aware>: ^ Was that him or the stroke talking?

May-05-09  Sicilian Dragon: <ahmadov> "The World has improved much lately... It has won GM Nickel, GM Shulman and GM Timmerman consecutively in its last three games..."

<Jim Bartle> "No question, the World has heated up."

May-14-09  ahmadov: <Sicilian Dragon: <ahmadov> "The World has improved much lately... It has won GM Nickel, GM Shulman and GM Timmerman consecutively in its last three games..."> This must be wrong... I think I have never said this before...

jessicafischerqueen: Anyone who doesn't love studying chess is crazy. AROOOOOOOOOOO

sneaky pete: <JFQ> That's just what the world champion, Dr. Siegfried Fischer, said in 1935. "Da kann einer vier Meter lang sein, Schach muß er spielen, sonst ist er ein Tepp." The full quote is on my profile.

<

IMFSTJP: A sack is a sack, whether accepted or not, whether it leads to mate or material return, loss or gain. By the way, in the "Queen's gambit", where is the Queen being sacked, I seem to miss this point?

Jim Bartle: And moreover, what about the KING's gambit? Where is the king sacked?

IMFSTJP: The authors of these gambit names should be sacked.
