<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Penguincw: Since I just got on the board in both Moves Ranker, all 16 competitors have now scored in all 4 categories through just 7 rounds.

  OhioChessFan: ♔ Round 7 Recap ♔

As <Penguincw> has noted, all contestants are now on the scoreboard in all categories. This contest can be really difficult to score in, so that is harder than you might first think. <juan31> and <SwitchingOwl> are tied for the lead in 2 categories, <chessmoron> leads one, and <WinKing> is a new leader in the Moves+Bonus Ranker. <OhioChessFan> is still grumbling that the So-Karjakin game didn't go one lousy move longer. 4 rounds to go. Off day on Monday.

Jan-19-14  Patriot: <OhioChessFan> Thanks for making it clear to the "colonel". I'm not sure why my post was so hard to understand. I guess it happens when they try to pick apart sentences or expect to see something that isn't there. But he could have used a slightly different approach by asking "what do you mean by this?" instead of being abrasive. I'm not sure if that's just his personality or he just wants to stir up something. Oh well, I'm not worried about it!

OhioChessFan: It was clear. He is at base level an innately dishonest person and that was simply gamesmanship. I let it drop without bothering to point out I can ask a question that obviously contains an implicit conclusion. But there's not much point in ongoing conversations with dishonest people.
Jan-19-14  Patriot: I would say you are probably right. Thanks!
Jan-19-14  Colonel Mortimer: <Patriot: <OhioChessFan> Thanks for making it clear to the "colonel".>

He didn't - you did.

Thanks for clarifying on Jambow's forum.

<Ohio> You're seen as very dishonest on the Rogoff forum - I'm sure you're better in real life.

Premium Chessgames Member
OhioChessFan: I can live with that assessment. I doubt you're better in real life.
Jan-19-14  Colonel Mortimer: I was being charitable, you are judging again.

That's the difference between us.

OhioChessFan: Were the people seeing me as very dishonest judging?
Jan-20-14  Colonel Mortimer: There's difference between judging someone in real life like you just did me and judging someone on their words and posting behaviour in a forum.
Jan-20-14
Premium Chessgames Member
OhioChessFan: And you call other people eely?
Jan-20-14  Colonel Mortimer: I have no problem ascribing that to your behaviour and posting history on the Rogoff forum.

Whether you are or not in real life is another matter. I wouldn't pretend to judge you in matters for which I have no experience or evidence.

OhioChessFan: I think that's a stupid and/or convenient bifurcation to make.

Jan-20-14  Colonel Mortimer: Fine - if you think you exhibit the same traits offline as you do online.

You may make a stupid comment - it doesn't mean you're stupid. So if I said you were stupid based on a stupid comment you made that would be judgemental. If however the majority of your posts were stupid, I would start to surmise that either you're stupid or just stubbornly and wilfully ignorant.

We all judge each other to some extent - but judging out of prejudice, lack of evidence or spitefulness is not the way to go.
