<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ♔ Round 8 Recap ♔

Quite a shakeup at the top of the leaderboard. <lostemperor> has moved to the top of the pack in Moves and Moves + Bonus Ranker. <switch> has jumped to the top of Bonus Ranker. And <WinKing> continues to lead in #1 Moves Ranker. <OhioChessFan> is still mumbling to himself after correctly picking a Black win, against Agdestein no less, and scoring no points in the process. There were mixed reviews on whether it's a good thing he doesn't have to kill himself. Very close at the top in all 4 categories. Last round tomorrow, and it starts one hour earlier than the rest.

  Domdaniel: <Ohio> Greetings ... now that the Norway tournament is finished, I wish to express my total and utter confusion. I cannot understand the American approach to 'gambling'.

On this side of the pond, we have betting shops and bookies, where people place bets on sporting and other events. I gather that such facilities are still illegal in much of the USA? And yet you have Las Vegas...

And then there's this mysterious word 'ranker'. Without rancour (and without wishing to sound like a wan... oh, never mind) may I say that I don't understand this term. What, please, is a ranker?

  OhioChessFan: ♔ Final Recap ♔

In a dominant performance, Hall of Famer <lostemperor> took home 3 gold medals, and one silver. <SwitchingQuylthulg> and <WinKing> took home 1 gold each. <Switch> added 3 bronzes and <WinKing> had 2 silvers. Other medalists were <Karposian> with a silver and 2 bronzes, <Nako> with a silver, and <moulicules> <Penguincw> and <Robin01> with a bronze each. <OhioChessFan> fell just short with a record setting perfect that has the entire sports world abuzz. Alas, he and <chessmoron> and Still-Not-A-Hall-of-Famer <PinnedPiece> were all shut out in the medal race.

Many thanks to <chessmoron> who fortunately ran a better contest than he predicted, and to all the competitors.

Ahhhhhh. I can't explain it. Most law enforcement types ignore it unless they want some face time in the press.

<What, please, is a ranker?>

I don't think it has anything to do with a wanker, but I'm not sure. chessmoron?

  Penguincw: Wow. I don't know how I managed to salvage a bronze.

Anyway, thanks for hosting and organizing the contest. Congratz to all the medalists, especially <lostemperor>, who just like over at YouRang's contest, hit some "jackpots". I see he won a triple crown and came within 5 points of a quadruple crown. So close, but I will remain the only quadruple crown winner for at least one more tournament. :)

Also, I see <OCF> and <chessmoron> were kept off the podium. Is this a first?

Next contest is Dortmund?
