<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: it came out of the mountains and it came right from the heart they called it bluegrass music and we played it from the start with blue moon of kentucky bill and elvis had a smash we had elvis on velvet and monroe on grass

chorus: elvis sang the gospel songs and we could sing them too that's all we had in common for about a year or two
when rock 'n roll took over we just hung on to the past we had elvis on velvet and monroe on grass

they amplified the guitars and brought in a set of drums it got so loud you couldn't hear a picker pick and strum we hung on to our music but we sure ran short of cash we had elvis on velvet and monroe on grass

repeat chorus

bill and elvis both are gone and in the hall of fame
we keep on playin' bluegrass, i don't guess we'll ever change there was a time we really thought the music wouldn't last we had elvis on velvet and monroe on grass

repeat chorus

Aug-02-09  PinnedPiece: GeneM=PinnedPiece? My teammates in white v black could only be so lucky.

True answer = Nope.

Everybody here has an interest in chess. Are you keying off of the Fischer random discussion on chessviewer deluxe page? I'm just bothered by the current white v black chess 960 game (I'm on the other team in case you didn't notice--and not contributing much, I can tell you, even though I post a lot) but am bothered by the lack of support by the default viewer. Surely someone on your team has noticed? I figured out a way for everyone on the team to make a lot of use of the viewer for proposing lines. But in so doing, I see that the programmer could make it even easier.

The "Gene M" on this site links to Gene Milener--whoever he is--supposedly a software engineer for microsoft, that has written a book if you visit his user page.

That is certainly not me. Sorry.

.

Aug-02-09  PinnedPiece: p.s. Redmond WA software geek=conservative? What are you smoking tonight?

OhioChessFan: I looked some more at all that and I don't even want to begin trying to unravel it. Everyone appears to be everyone. And everyone is saying everyone is everyone.

No idea what you mean by the Redmond WA reference.

Aug-02-09  PinnedPiece: <OCF> having been accused by <Ed Trice> of being <Gene M> I did some research:

User: Gene M

http://playchess960.com/pdfs/PSCbyE...

http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

Gene is/was (?) a Microsoft Software Engineer in Redmond.

If you've read my Rogoff kibitzes, you can attest, I'm sure, to my lack of West Coast liberal thinking.

OhioChessFan: Okay. I think I have no idea what is going on in all that. :)
Aug-04-09  PinnedPiece: USPS announces PO closings...are you affected in any way?
Aug-04-09

OhioChessFan: No. I'm in pretty good shape in that regard. Specialized job, 20 plus years seniority.

I realize most working stiffs would say something similar, but our management is beyond incompetent. We have higher level managers who barely graduated high school. I mean that literally. They won't let this "crisis" go to waste though. The slash and burn going on is going to be a problem in a couple years.

WannaBe: 20 plus years seniority, doesn't that qualify you as retirement candidate??
Aug-05-09

OhioChessFan: I'm under a program where I'd only get 1% a year in retirement. The equivalent of a 401K program is nice, and I have loaded up on that, but I can't touch that until I'm 56, which is a long ways off. I could get another job in a normal time, but the job market is awful right now.
Aug-05-09  Bradah: What about your TSP?

Agree 100%. Bonuses, bonuses and more...why isn't there an incentive on early out?

Aug-05-09  Bradah: <PinnedPiece: USPS announces PO closings...are you affected in any way?> Only for re-alignment purposes, my guess is only cutting cost on leases.
