<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Penguincw: Hi <chessmoron>. Please note for Mamedyarov-Carlsen, I (<Penguincw>) predicted a draw in 50 moves, not 40 moves.

I do score on the 3rd over however, so it's just a case of deducting 5 points.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 1 Recap **

We're off and running in the Shamkir Moves Prediction Contest. It was an exciting first round, as everyone scored. <chessmoron> took it upon himself to not allow anyone else to embarrass the contest by winning a Quadruple Crown this time out. He stormed to an early lead in 3 Rankers. <lostemperor> and <Switch> also lead a Ranker.

In other news, once again, <Penguincw> was confused about the rules of the tournament and once again posted like 4 different entries in the first round and once again totally confused <chessmoron> on what picks he was really making and once again drew a glare from <chessmoron> once again. <Count Wedgemore> appealed to <chessmoron> to fix a terrible typo from last December wherein one time <chessmoron> listed him as <CountWedgemore> instead of <Count Wedgemore>, saying "It just totally disrupts the symmetry of the scoreboard and the page." <chessmoron> glared at him. <Count Wedgemore> unadvisedly said "BRING IT ON!". <chessmoron> stood up to his full height of 7' 6" and glared again. <Count Wedgemore> said, "Quite right, it's not necessary, sir, after all, sir." Meanwhile, <wordfunph> boycotted the first round because he wasn't allowed to pick Kramnik to win with White.

In other news, <Penguincw> tried to stake a claim to the Pollyanna Award by deducting points from himself. Of course, it was his fault, once again, because he once again turned in like 4 entries in the first round once again. And trying to advance his own candidancy for the Pollyanna Award, <Count> commended <Penguincw> for doing so! It was just a shocking display of lack of competitive spirit by both of them. The contestants are forewarned that without <WinKing> here, <OhioChessFan> is back to his normal grumpy self and won't be nice and won't commend other people for being nice and is retiring the Pollyanna Award.

It's just a 9 round tournament, so our contestants have to be on their A game from the very beginning of the contest. Can <chessmoron> make a run at his own Quadruple Crown? How many entries will <Penguincw> turn in once again this round? Who will <Count Wedgemore> yell "BRING IT ON!" at? Will <wordfunph> predict Kramnik to win with Black this round? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other penetrating questions. 8 rounds to go in our exciting contest.

Penguincw: Hi <chessmoron>. You seem to be missing <Switch>'s predictions. He got:

Radjabov - Mamedov 1/2-1/2 29 (good for 5 points)

Carlsen - Navara 1/2-1/2 44 (good for 7 points)

Topalov - Giri 1/2-1/2 41 (good for 6 points)

Luckily, it doesn't affect any other scoring so it's an easier fix.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 2 Recap **

<chessmoron> continues to lead in 3 Rankers as he prepares to be the head of security for the Bruno Mars tour. His fervent pleas for someone to cover him in his absence were met with stony silence, which is probably an indication of the good taste in music our contestants possess. <OhioChessFan> is about ready to issue a 5 point per Ranker bonus to anyone who steps up. Meanwhile, <GE> leads Bonus Ranker. <lostemperor>, <OhioChessFan>, <Switch> and <sea otter> also share the early lead in #1 Ranker.

In other news, <chessmoron> made an inspired and admirable attempt to try to slow down <Switch's> domination of this event by the clever tactic of ignoring his entry! But <Penguincw> insisted on making things fair and namby pamby and la de da and stuff, and <chessmoron> felt compelled to quit cheating. In response, <OCF> is planning to abuse his forum authority by deleting <Penguin's> entries for the next 2 rounds just to teach him a lesson.

Meanwhile, <offramp> has issued a fatwa against every player in the tournament, to be lifted only upon each one’s first decisive game. <OCF> is about to issue a fatwa against the whole group of contestants who can’t be bothered to take over the scoring for the next two rounds. <Switch> was about to issue a fatwa against <chessmoron> for trying to cheat him, but a second look at someone 7’ 6” made <Switch> rethink his position.

We’re 2 rounds in and already the excitement is building. Who will have the nerve to tell <chessmoron> that Bruno Mars sucks? Can <chessmoron> continue his lead in 3 Rankers? Who will bust out of the pack in #1 Ranker? Will <offramp> issue another fatwa? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other exciting questions. 7 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.
