<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Penguincw: I'll give <chessmoron> the benefit of the doubt and assume he had to leave shortly after I made the correction post. (gotta catch the flight)

Those standings posts do take time to edit, and I was probably composing my post, at the same time he composed his.

Or maybe he can't see any posts directly above his. ;)

The correct lines for <Switch> are (Moves, Bonus, Total, First)

24, SwitchingQuylthulg, 0, 2, 1
12, SwitchingQuylthulg, 1, 0, 1, 1
36, SwitchingQuylthulg
3, SwitchingQuylthulg, 0, 2, 1

Good luck <OCF>. I got your back.

Penguincw: < In other news, once again, <Penguincw> was confused about the rules of the tournament and once again posted like 4 different entries in the first round >

I actually posted (and deleted immediately) 3 different prediction sets for Round 2, before finally settling on the 4th time, which is the ones which actually counted.

Round 3:

SwitchingQuylthulg: I want two points for 2nd over on Giri-Radjabov (and <juan31> and <Count Wedgemore> should get one point for 3rd over).

Also, <lostemperor> needs five points for 3rd under in Ding-Topalov.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Golden Executive> needs 2 more points (2nd over) in the Bonus Ranker and Moves+Bonus Ranker, <offramp> needs 1 more point (3rd over) in both rankers, and <Penguincw>'s total in the Moves+Bonus ranker is off by 10. (All of these were right in the Results, it's only the Summary that has them wrong.)

OhioChessFan: Okay, I can't even think straight now so I'll let this sit a while. I just added <le> and <GE> those points even though I'm not sure if our posts crossed wires. 1:30 PM chessgames.com time. I need to write a program to score this thing. I don't know how <chessmoron> does it.
Apr-21-18  WinKing: Looks good except in the 'Bonus Ranker' <OCF> you have this:

8, bubuli55, 0, 0, 0

It should read:

8, bubuli55, 0, 1, 0, 1

Penguincw: Hi <OCF>. Looks good except for the note <WK> pointed above. And also for Bonus Ranker.

< 0, sea otter, 0, 1, 0, 1 >

Should read 0, 0, 0, 0

I also see some unimportant alphabetical order issues, but oh well.

< I need to write a program to score this thing. I don't know how <chessmoron> does it. >

Personally, I use Google Sheets or Excel.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 3 Recap **

<OhioChessFan> is about to go stark raving mad as he tries to regain his faculties after making more attempts to get the scoreboard right than <Penguincw> trying to turn in his picks. He's hearing voices in his head, the voices of <Switch>, <Penguin> and <Winky>, screaming, "NO, YOU DID THIS WRONG YOU DID THAT WRONG GET IT RIGHT YOU IDIOT!!!!". <OCF> thinks now the offer of 5 points per Ranker to keep score was not enough, so he is retroactively awarding himself 10 points per Ranker, to be added into next round's scores.

Meanwhile, at the 1/3 point of our contest, <Switch> has taken advantage of <chessmoron's> absence to take the lead in 3 Rankers. Only <Golden Executive> is in the way of <Switch> gunning for another Quadruple Crown. This happened in spite of the clever trick dreamed up by <cm> before he left whereby <OCF> would pretend to be a dithering idiot and unable to properly score, and accidentally skip some points for <Switch>. Of course, <Switch> would have none of that and one more unsuccessful trick was cast aside.

Meanwhile, <Penguin> and <GE> are apparently trying to cheat the system by going back in time on the internet to something called the Wayback Machine in an attempt to change their picks after the games are concluded. <OCF> admires their resourcefulness and wishes he'd thought of it.

Other random musings: <amw> has apparently decided to only participate in even number rounds. <offramp> is about to proclaim a Double Dog Dare Fatwa against the tournament participants as we have now had 15 straight draws. Due to his feverish mind, <OCF> yelled loud enough to be heard in China, "HEY CHESSMORON, BRUNO MARS SUCKS!". <OCF> feels safe doing so as long as nobody tells <chessmoron> about it. If he gets called out on it, he'll add, "Well, at least he's better than Avicii."

We are a third of the way home. Who is going to figure out a way, by hook or by crook, to slow down the <Switch> Express? Can <GE> save the dignity of the entire contest by at least winning one gold medal? Will <OCF> keep hearing the voices in his head? Will <chessmoron> come back and stomp on <OCF> for bad mouthing Bruno Mars? Will <offramp> call off his fatwa if there is finally a decisive game in the fourth round? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other interesting questions. 6 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.
