<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Apr-25-18  Count Wedgemore: Okay, this is frustrating.

The players in the Gashimov memorial are not allowed to make draw offers until move 41, yet they keep finding ingenious ways to draw their games long before that. I admire their resourcefulness, but IT'S KILLED MY CHANCES. I assumed there would be very few games that ended before move 41, so my prediction strategy this time around took that into account, but turns out it was the wrong decision.

But: I will return with great fury and determination..next time!

Apr-25-18  Count Wedgemore: I'd just like to add one more thing: given my failed strategy I should of course attempt to 'right the ship' as soon as possible.

But I just can't get myself to change my pre-planned strategy for this tournament in the middle of the contest. I'm stubborn that way.

Oh, well. I can only blame myself, I suppose..

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 6 Recap **

Things are getting interesting as we reached the 2/3 point of our contest. <Switch> still leads 3 Rankers. <GE> and <Penguin> still lead <Switch> in the Bonus Ranker. <OCF> made a charge up the #1 Ranker to pose a challenge to <Switch>, who promptly laughed it off.

In other news, everyone is still trying to decipher <OCF's> whining about "If I can't win, I'd rather lose." <lostemperor> is the only person who thought it might make sense, but he suggested that maybe <OCF> used poor syntax. <Penguincw> had to go and mention the 666 issue that <OCF> was hoping everyone would miss or ignore. <offramp> has revoked his fatwa against the tournament contestants and issued one against this contest, as he is still the only person with a 0 on the scoreboard. In a touching display of generosity, <juan31> and <GE> have offered to pay for <OCF> to take "Spanish as a Second Language" classes. <OCF> said, "I am so embarazado, I should do this." Invoking the newly invented Shankland Strategy, <wordfunph> has decided that he's going to pick Black to win every game the rest of the tournament.

In an amusing moment, <Count Wedgemore> expressed his dismay at the players not making at least 40 moves a game, when that stipulation is clearly in the tournament rules. The rest of our contestants were giggling behind their hands. <sea otter> and <Schwartz> were heard laughing with each other saying, "Imagine, someone thinks the players are actually going to play by the RULES!" <OCF> does think <Count's> naivte' is a bit endearing.

And it's down the homestretch for fame and fortune, and a possible historic event, whereby someone, not <Penguincw> but someone, is gunning for the first ever second conescutive Quadruple Crown. Some of our contestants are making heroic efforts to stall off <Switch> in his quest, <GE>, <Penguin> and <OCF> in particular, but the possibility is still on the table. Can <Switch> do it? Can someone else stop him? Will <offramp> ever hit a #1? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pertinent questions. 3 rounds to go in our exciting contest.
