<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Jun-07-18  WinKing: He won't be comfortable now that Caruana is winning!
Jun-07-18  Count Wedgemore: <WinKing: He won't be comfortable now that Caruana is winning!>

Yes. I'm sure Carlsen is regretting that decision now..

Still, beating MVL with the black pieces would not have been an easy undertaking anyway.

I'm sorry for Magnus of course, but congrats to Caruana for once again playing really well towards the end of a tournament. Strong nerves!

Jun-07-18  WinKing: Magnus got what he deserved 2nd place. I'll bet the Norway organizers are not happy at all. First Ding withdraws & now their man, Magnus, takes a 17 move draw & ends in 2nd place.

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

<OhioChessFan> managed to stagger to the finish line and win 2 gold medals, to everyone's shock. <Switch> made a mad rush at the end to end up just one point behind in Bonus Ranker. <wordfunph> and <Count Wedgemore> backed up their admirable braggaodico by winning the Moves and #1 gold medals respectively.

In other news, <whiteshark> once again tried to disrupt the final round, but <OCF> was too clever to fall for that one again, stating, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twenty times, shame on me." <WinKing> had another stunning outburst of anger, so out of place for him, as he called Carlsen a "wimp". It's rumored that <Count Wedgemore> bribed Carlsen to take the early draw as he clearly had inside information about what would take place. <wordfunph> walked through the playing hall showing off his gold medal and repeatedly screaming "BRING IT ON!"

So congratulations to all our medal winners and to Caruana for their success in this tournament. Hoping to see everyone in Dortmund or Biel. Thanks for playing!

Jun-08-18  alfamikewhiskey: Thanks a lot. Great fun!
Jun-08-18  Count Wedgemore: Thanks to <chessmoron> and <OCF> for another great contest, and thanks to <WinKing> for checking scores. Always great fun, especially when doing well :) Congratulations to all the winners!

Penguincw: I'd like to thank <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan> for even making this contest a possibility, and <WinKing> for double checking.

Congrats to <OCF> for getting 2 gold, but missing out on the quadruple crown. Oh well.

I'd also like to thank Anand for beating Karjakin in the last round allowing me to salvage a bronze.

See you next time, which I hope is Dortmund.

Jun-08-18  WinKing: Thanks for running & hosting the show.

Congratulations to all of the medalists!

OhioChessFan: Still in first in Bookie......no idea how. I know how to play the game for blood, but I have no inclination to do so. A lot of legs, I bet 200 on my first bet and if it loses, I quit. This time, I hit a couple big winners early and got to the lead. Then I missed playing what would have been some big money wins by not taking 30 seconds a day to look at the game. I bet I haven't spent 5 minutes total on it. Sort of like a Moves or Games Prediction contest. I am not a big fan of how the game usually plays out, that is, someone hits a single huge jackpot, or they spend huge amounts of time playing the odds and build up incrementally. And I sort of look at the current betting on rapids and blitz games the same way a lot of chess purists look at playing rapids and blitz games.
Jun-15-18  WinKing: No one has really been very consistent <OCF>. You see a lot of the players going way up & then they fall. Your strategy of just sitting tight seems to be best for now. I am expecting someone to make a run soon though. It always happens. Then you might have to gamble a little more if you want to hold on to the top spot. Just make sure you hold onto a top 10 spot so your in the Championship Leg starting with 10K chessbucks. That's the main thing.
Jun-15-18  wordfunph: <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan>, thank you!

cheers to all winners!

It just happened.

<Then you might have to gamble a little more if you want to hold on to the top spot. >

Not happening. If I drop out of the top 10 by not betting on blitz, so be it.
