<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **

The tension is at the boiling point in our contest, as the dramatic penultimate round set us up for an earth shattering final round. <wordfunph> started the day by climbing atop the Moves Ranker podium and screaming, ala <Count Wedgemore>, "Bring it on!" He lived up to his challenge by increasing his lead in that ranker. <offramp> stunned the crowd by hitting 2 #1 picks and moved ahead of <OCF> for the silver in that Ranker. <Count Wedgemore> and <wordfunph> now share the lead in #1 Ranker. <OCF> hasn't hit a #1 in 12 rounds, which is an obvious problem in a 9 round contest. He is contenting himself with leading the Bonus and Moves+Bonus Rankers, although <Switch> might have something to say about that.

In other news, <sea otter> sobered up and <WinKing> settled down. <offramp> took the shocking tactic of appealing to the Bible for guidance in making his picks. <Penguincw> <DID> make a selection with a half move involved, as word on the street predicted. <Robin01> tried heroically to get rid of the last two 0's on our scoreboard, but in two decisive games, he was 1 and 2 moves over. <wordfunph> took the underhanded tactic of trying to distract <OCF> by appealing to his Bookie success, and it worked like a charm. <OCF> has to admit his admiration for such actions, as it is about time the contestants here got over being nice to each other and started trying to fight and win like men. That is the kind of outside the box thinking that makes people winners in life.

The crowd is abuzz, as they can't decide who to root for. Will they root for <wordfunph> and his admirably sneaky methods? Will they root for <Count Wedgemore> and his brash brand of smack talk? Will they root for <offramp> who has made a late surge to the medal podium? Might they try to boost <Switch> in the Bonus Ranker? Or will they have pity on <OhioChessFan> who is sinking like Roseanne Barr's career? Can someone else sneak in with a huge round for a gold? Will <sea otter> stay sober? Will <WinKing> stay nice? Will the unthinkable, at least to <Penguincw>, happen, and <OCF> somehow luck out to a Quadruple Crown? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other exciting questions. It's the final round, the contestants are primed and ready, and the crowd rises........

OhioChessFan: As we impatiently await our thrilling final round, many thanks to <chessmoron> for running the show. Thanks to <WinKing> for all his help collecting predictions and correcting scores. Thanks to <Penguin> and <Switch> for their help. Here's hoping we'll meet again in either Dortmund or Biel, or both.

Be patient with <chessmoron> getting the final standings together. If you don't want to be nice about that, then just remember he's 7' 6" and act accordingly.

Jun-07-18  Count Wedgemore: <WinKing> Well, somebody here had an inkling beforehand..
Jun-07-18  Count Wedgemore: <WinKing> That said, I held out a little hope that MVL would go for it, and we could see a real fight, because he had really nothing to lose. It is more understandable that Carlsen was content with a short draw. He is confident in his blitz abilities, and in all likelihood +1 will be enough for him to get a play-off.
