<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: <redundant> I never noticed that. I had 5 semesters of college German so I have a basic knowledge of the language. I guess the different languages of "time" in the same sentence render it acceptable. Monty Python just doesn't work for me. I like maybe 10% of their stuff.

OhioChessFan: I just played over the Samunenkov game. What do you think of the Petroff in general? Do you need to be booked up on the latest lines or can you just rely on general principles?

   Nov-14-25 V Biliy vs V Golovach, 2003

OhioChessFan: Wildly entertaining game that lasted a long time with an odd material imbalance. 41...Ke5 was losing, as it gave up the skewer on the two Rooks on the long diagonal. 41...Kd7 would have been fine.

This became a cliché at the poker table. Whenever two players squabbled, somebody would say "Rent a room and get it over with." Heh.

<Ohio> I don't even know how I ended up on this page today but look at this-

Two sides of <Daniel>?

Player hat?: The World vs A Nickel, 2006 (kibitz #70)

Administrator hat?: The World vs A Nickel, 2006 (kibitz #75)

How much fun that man could have, I tell you.

I haven't even begun to get over this eh, and I didn't realize the extent of this fact until now. This will take time for me.

Oct-12-18  Count Wedgemore: <OCF> I read earlier today that you were going to a President Trump rally. I'd be interested to know how you experienced taking part in such a rally. Was it uplifting and exciting? Or a bit exhausting, perhaps even a tad boring (I suppose these events involve a great deal of waiting in lines to get in, etc.)? Or a little bit of both? If you, when you have the time, could write a few words about it, I'd appreciate it. Should be interesting.

OhioChessFan: I in fact had zero interest in going to the rally. I don't do well in crowds, and in particular, standing in lines. Everything I've heard has been very positive. Of course, it's a self selected group that went, so you'd mostly expect them to like what they found.
Oct-14-18  Tiggler: Thanks for your vote for me on Memorable Quotes.

chessgames.com: Posting guideline #3—which has existed virtually since the inception of this site—is unambiguous.

Consequently, references to certain totalitarian regimes which arose primarily in 20th century Europe, and which are intended (however impotently) to besmirch <any> member of Chessgames.com will be summarily removed, and repeat offenders will be sanctioned—notwithstanding the fact that such flippant attacks are the veritable <epitome> of an individual who must resort to the <clumsiest> and most <juvenile> of smears, rather than engage in anything that remotely resembles legitimate discussion.

Such shenanigans simply won't be tolerated—if they ever were. Rest assured that this statement represents the <unanimous> consensus opinion of both site Ownership <and> Admin, and therefore, such defamatory posts are precisely the sort of snot-nosed tactic which should be assiduously avoided moving forward.

Kapiche?

Oct-14-18  JimNorCal: "this statement represents the <unanimous> consensus opinion of both site Ownership <and> Admin"

Both Lee and Susan, eh? OK, got it.

Once the new moderators are in place, hopefully Ownership and Admin will be freed up to focus on chess. Yay!

In the old days I never looked at forum pages, thus was unaware of the childish level to which they often descended.
