 | | OhioChessFan: ** Round 3 Recap **
This is the recap for Round 3. <Penguincw> figured out in his head that is the Round 3 Recap, if anyone is impressed. We're off and running in the World Chess Championship Moves Prediction Contest. The chess world is fascinated with our contest as the greatest predictors in all of chessdom are competing for a crown rivaled only, maybe only, by the championship Carlsen and Caruana are contesting. All our contestants are primed and ready, except for poor <Robin01> <Golden Executive> and <bubulli55> who missed the opening of our contest in a failed effort to hear Donald Trump speak at a French cemetery on Veteran's Day. When they appealed to <chessmoron> to let their late entries into the contest, <chessmoron> glared at them. <OhioChessFan> stepped in and said, "Hey, you demanded I get more entrants, so I did and...." at which point <OCF> noticed <chessmoron> glaring at him, so <OCF> walked away. Then <Winky> tried to sneak the late entrants into the contest until <chessmoron> found out and glared at him. <wordfunph> barely got his entry in on time, as he was rumored to be at an Ozola party and lost track of time. In other news, <offramp> made the mistake of saying he doesn't like "all the little rules" this contest has. When <chessmoron> heard that, he glared at <offramp>, who immediately retracted his statement. To his credit, <offramp> did suggest the name "Round 3 Recap" for this post. We have discovered that <Count Wedgemore> properly spells his name "<Count Wedge Moor>" because of his vast land holdings in the moors of Europe. <lost in space> got a great gig commentating on the WCC, but was fired after he used the phrase "dead draw" 37 times in the first 3 games. Meanwhile, <lostemperor> irritated everyone by making like 5 "revisions" of his picks, none of which were any good anyway. <I Like Fish> snuck in at the last second and picked more decisive games than the rest of the contestants combined. <alfamikewhiskey> earned the admiration of <OhioChessFan> by trying make an entry of the games played in the LAST WCC and hoping <chessmoron> wouldn't notice. It would have worked too, if that do-gooder <Winky> hadn't blabbed. Regardless, that is the kind of competitive fire and outside the box thinking <OCF> loves to see. <juan31> likewise made a valiant effort to cheat his way to a win, as he made an entry that didn't reflect the change in colors for the second half of the contest. He planned to appeal <after> the contest is over to let the results that best suited his picks be the official entry. He, too, got found out, and even <thanked> those who ratted him out. Great work by both <amw> and <juan>. You are an inspiration to us all. |

 | | OhioChessFan: [ <OCF> got so excited about the World Championship he made a post that exceeded the kibitzing word limit! ] Our remaining contestants include <Diademas> who is having a horrible performance so far. He blames his recent discovery of the Rogoff page for hurting his logic and critical thinking skills. Also competing is the legendary <Switch>, who apparently was too busy to put much effort into this contest, as he simply copy/pasted the same result into his entry form 12 times. And our leader is <DerDiemer> who is riding a ridiculous wave of lucky picks, and was last seen making a failed effort to get <GE> to run a Games Prediction for the WCC. So, we are 3 rounds in the World's Chess Moves Prediction Championship, and this contest is far more exciting than the Drawfest over the board. Will <DerDiemer> or <WinKing> break ahead? Can the usual suspects right behind them make a charge? Which big idiot will do something to make <chessmoron> mad again? Does anyone really understand the rules for the last few games of the contest, or will we just have to trust <chessmoron> to do the right thing? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other exciting questions. 9 rounds or less or something, I don't know, ask <chessmoron>, to go in our thrilling contest. |

I have not been on the Rogoff-page for three weeks and my blood pressure is back to 120/80! My abysmal performance reflects only on myself! ;) |

 | | OhioChessFan: ** Round 6 Recap **
We're 1/2, or something else, I don't know, ask <chessmoron>, of the way through our thrilling contest. Obviously, this is the biggest game in town as the Carlsen-Caruana Drawfest is not holding anyone's interest any more. Meanwhile, we have a low scoring barn burner and it's still anyone's contest to win. <DerDiemer> continued his inexplicable lucky streak, and holds a narrow lead over Hall of Famers <lostemperor>, <WinKing> and <Switch>. <Switch> was clearly confused by the contest rules, as he apparently thinks it is a good idea to not score any points in Moves Ranker. To his credit, he has already nailed every possible Bonus Ranker score. In other news, the usually unbearable <offramp> will now be even more unbearable as he was quoted by Bobby Fischer himself or something like that, during a rare postgame mortem Fischer conducted. <Diademas> shocked all of us by doing something smart, when he disavowed the Rogoff page. He was immediately rewarded by hitting a first under the next day. <Count Wedgemore> openly offered <Winky> a bribe to manipulate the scoring. <Winky> held out for more money than <Count> was offering, as <Winky> stated, "It's hard, <Count>, cough, cough, to know who might win, wink, wink." Rumor has it all of the <Count's> vast land holdings will be dissolved if Brexit passes, so he has no cash flow to make the bribe happen. But the attempt was admirable, as everyone knows that winning is the only thing. <OCF> admires <Count's> competitive fervor. Tragedy was narroly averted when <Penguincw> was last seen laughing with <OCF> about <chessmoron> not having scored yet. <Pengo> happened to spot <cm> first, and quickly said "Ihavetogobye." and waddled away. <OCF> was still laughing to himself when <chessmoron> showed up and glared at him. Thinking quickly, <OCF> realized his only hope for survival was to distract <cm>, so he asked <cm> to explain the rules about losing 3 points a game for any game that didn't start before Thanksgiving or something. <cm> quickly warmed to the subject, and as he finished his simple and clear explanation only 2 hours later, he'd forgotten that <OCF> had been laughing at him. Can <DerDiemer> stay lucky forever? Will one of the three people tied for second make a charge? Can someone else push through in the next 3 games to stake their claim for the World Championship? Who will <chessmoron> catch laughing at him next? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other penetrating questions. 6 or 4 or something, I don't know, ask <chessmoron>, rounds to go in our thrilling contest. |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | WinKing: <chessmoron> we have a small problem here. I see <bubuli55> is listed as scoring 5pts in game 6: <<Game 6><Carlsen-Caruana, 1/2-1/2 in 80 moves.> Exact, 10 points: []

2nd Over, 2 points: []
3rd Over, 1 point1: []>
The problem is he is not listed in the *Moves+Bonus Ranker - Through <Game 6>*. My question is are you allowing those that turned in their picks late to play. I just knew this was going to be a problem because it was never addressed. Your scores are wrong because of it. How did <wordfunph> jump from 9pts to 14pts if he didn't score in rounds 4, 5, or 6. You have a mess here. |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | WinKing: I can't wait to hear the explanation. |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | chessmoron: Sorry, below is the corrected result:
<Carlsen-Caruana, 1/2-1/2 in 80 moves.> Exact, 10 points: []
Under, 7 points: [['offramp', '1/2-1/2', '66']]
2nd Under, 6 points: [['SwitchingQuylthulg', '1/2-1/2', '54']] 3rd Under, 5 points: [['wordfunph', '1/2-1/2', '52']] Over, 3 points: []
2nd Over, 2 points: []
3rd Over, 1 point1: [] |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | chessmoron: After the contest is over, I will count the late comers. But it will never affect the scores of the participants who post their prediction on time. |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | WinKing: Ok great! Now the scores listed are correct. |
|
| Nov-16-18 | | WinKing: So you are keeping two sets of scores <chessmoron>. Be careful you don't mix them up...oops. ;) |
