<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 9 Recap **

We're 3/4 or something, I don't know, ask <chessmoron>, we're some of the way through our fascinating contest. The requests for press passes has skyrockted as the WCC itself continues its boring string of draws. Meanwhile, this contest is so close and so exciting that Anna Rudolf has been begging <chess moron> to do the play by play analysis of our prediction contest.

Leading the way is the internationally acclaimed chess journalist <offramp>, who took time from his busy Bobby Fischer's Favorite Commentator Tour to grace this contest with his presence. Close behind is early leader <DerDiemer> who seems to be letting the pressure of the World Championship get to him. Right behind them are <lostemperor> and <Switch>. Yoda is perhaps the only person in the Chess World who thought Caruana should be considered the favorite. <Switch> apparently used a 70 ply version of Stockfish analysis to make his picks for this contest. Unfortunately, he forgot to program in that he is allowed to score a point in Moves Ranker.

Speaking of not scoring any points, <chessmoron> shocked the playing arena when he kicked in the door to proudly boast of scoring like 4 points or something. Many in the crowd were ready to shush him, but when they realized he is 7' 6", they decided to continue watching the World Draw Championship instead. <Penguincw> had a laughing fit, and was telling anyone who could listen, "What a loser. The guy scores 4 lousy points and has to make a big scene. If I couldn't do any better than that....uhhh." when he realized that <chessmoron> heard him and was glaring at him. Thinking quickly, <Pengo> said "Hey, uh, <moron>, could you explain that rule about losing 3 points at the end of the contest?" After borrowing several NASA comptuers, and a mere 2 hours of explanation, <chessmoron> was able to explain the very simple rules for this contest. Meanwhile, <cm's> plan to keep 2 sets of books for the contest was discovered by <Winky>. <Winky> carefully explained to <cm> that he can't do that, and <cm> glared at <Winky>. <Winky> calmed the situation down by saying "Hey, <moron>, anything you do is fine by me. Just be careful, okay?".

Trailing way behind are <Diademas> and <OhioChessFan>, who appear to be a bit distracted from the contest as they have been engaged in a rather embarrassing discussion of Nigel Short's physical attributes.

And we head into the home strecth of our World Championship contest. Can <offramp> hold on to the lead? Will <DerDiemer> get his mojo back and have a strong final? Can anyone farther back make a late charge? Will anyone figure out exactly what <chessmoron> is doing with 2 sets of contest entries? When <chessmoron> starts subtracting 3 points at a time from everyone's score, will anyone understand why, and will anyone have the nerve to challenge him? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other exciting questions. 3 or 2 or 1 or something, I don't know, ask <chessmoron>, rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 10 Recap **

We're 5/6 of the way through our contest. The Drawfest continues between Caruana and Carlsen, but in the World Championship of Moves Prediction Contest, the action is red hot. Moderator <chessmoron> got so excited that he went ahead and made a scoring summary after Round 10 despite his earlier assurances that after Round 9, the next summary would be after Round 12.

In a bizarre occurrence, <Switch> hit a perfect after Caruana and Carlsen played about 30 pointless moves, and then randomly decided to stop at the 54th. Rumors are already buzzing that <Switch> might have bribed the players, a great idea that <OCF> regrets not thinking of himself. With the 10 points, <Switch> moved into the lead, just ahead of <DerDiemer> and <offramp>. It's almost surely a 3 man battle now, as the rest of the field is probably too far back to catch up.

The WCC is now guaranteeed to go 12 games. <chessmoron> expressed great disappointment that his simple to read 1000 page summary of how you can lose 3 points a game at the end of the contest will never be opened.

This contest had a strange situation when renowned chess engine AlphaZero (Computer) stopped by for a visit. It's not surprising after conquering the OTB chess world, AlphaZero would try to conquer the Moves Prediction contest. As <Winky> aptly commented to AlphaZero, "Hey, good luck with that!"

The tension is high. Can <Switch> hang on? Will <offramp> or <DerDiemer> make a late run for victory? Can someone farther back create a miracle finish to snatch victory from defeat? Will <chessmoron> sell his 1000 page explanation of the minus 3 points rules on Ebay? What chessengine will be silly enough to show up and try to challenge our World Championship Predictors next? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other penetrating questions. 2 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

Nov-23-18  DerDiemer: <Will <offramp> or <DerDiemer> make a late run for victory?>

Damn! iv'e got Carlsen for a win tomorrow. I guess that blowed my chance for good ... or maybe not

OhioChessFan: ** In Contest Update **

The Chess World was stunned when <wordfunph> and <lostemperor> made an 11th round surge to put themselves in the middle of the excitement. There was no change in our first 3 places of <Switch>, <DerD> and <offramp>, but <word> and <lost> positioned themselves to achieve a spectacular come from behind victory if they can make a strong showing in the final round. Most of the chess world has already tuned out the Carlsen-Caruana Snoozefest, and this contest has become the focal point. A two year reign as World Champion is at stake tomorrow.

The pressure is overwhelming. FIDE fined <DerDiemer> 10,000 chessbucks for an audible profanity in the middle of the playing arena. Security had to remove <offramp> who stood in the middle of the floor screaming, “ANYTHING BUT A DRAW TODAY!“ <wordfunph> mumbled incoherently about drinking booze to calm his nerves.

But all that is behind us as we eagerly await the results tomorrow. Who will win the World Chess Moves Prediction Contest? The crowd rises.....
