<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

In the 'Moves Ranker (# of 1st place UNDER/OVER)' :

<wordfunph> should have 6 (not 5)
<OhioChessFan> should have 1 (not 0)

Have a heart <chessmoron>. <OCF> has been trying so hard to erase that 0 in the In the 'Moves Ranker (# of 1st place UNDER/OVER)'. He finally does & he still has a 0...lol. ;)

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **

<GE> continues to stun the contestants by holding on to the lead in all 4 Rankers. The crowd is murmuring at the thought of a Quadruple Crown, the hardest achievement in the world of chess, except possibly winning the World Chess Championship. Carlsen was rumored to be taking glances up from his game against Giri to see how his outcome would impact <GE's> score. <wordfunph> is hanging tough as he remains in a tie for the #1 Ranker. There are a lot of other people close, but so far nobody else has stepped up and challenged <GE>.

In other news, the contestants and <OCF> heaved a big sigh of relief when he finally hit a #1. <chessmoron> had enjoyed the torture of <OCF> having that embarrassing 0 on the scoreboard, and so far has refused to remove it. Taking his life in his hands, <Winky> stepped up to the 7' 6" <chessmoron> and demanded (meekly, maybe, but still demanded) that <cm> set things right. <Winky> smirked a little when he did it, but did it he did. We're still awaiting a final ruling from the judges.

As always, the possibility of a Quadruple Crown has energized the contestants and fans alike. Can <GE> hold on to the lead in all 4 Rankers in such a tough tournament to predict? Will <wordfunph> or <chessmoron> or <Count> or someone else derail <GE's> dreams of glory? Will <OCF> or <Winky> be able to survive challenging <cm's> scoring decisions? The tension is high as we approach our penultimate(<OCF> figured that word all by himself if anyone is impressed) round. When it comes to an impending Quadruple Crown, will we see the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other interesting questions. 2 rounds to go in our exciting contest.

Penguincw: Grr, I see I was the only one affected by the outage last night. Good thing I already missed several rounds. But just in case:

Round 8:

Topalov - Ding Liren 1/2-1/2 40
Giri - Mamedyarov 1/2-1/2 35
Karjakin - Carlsen 1/2-1/2 37
Grischuk - Navara 1/2-1/2 34
Radjabov - Anand 1/2-1/2 33

Round 9

Anand - Topalov 1/2-1/2 19
Navara - Radjabov 1/2-1/2 19
Carlsen - Grischuk 1/2-1/2 19
Mamedyarov - Karjakin 1/2-1/2 19
Ding Liren - Giri 1/2-1/2 19

Apr-08-19  Count Wedgemore: <Penguincw> I can see it happening to anyone that one posts one's predictions a tiny bit too late, not having realized that the games have already started. But in this case you posted your rnd.8 predictions long after the round had started, both over at <Golden Executive>'s contest and here.

Not cool. This calls for immediate disqualification.

Penguincw: Ah, I just realized what I did. I did know I missed a round (due to the site), but I wasn't sure <which> round. If Round 8 had already started, then obviously my Round 8 predictions can't count.

In any case, to avoid this mess the rest of the tournament, I wanted to post all the rounds that have yet to start, but I thought we were on Round 7.

Apr-08-19  WinKing: <Penguincw> I waited 30 min. past first move hoping you would show up. Most games were on moves 12-15 by then. Had to pull the 'games started' trigger at that point.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **

The crowd is in an uproar as Magnus Carlsen and <Golden Executive> continue to steamroll the competition. Fans were evenly divided between declaring <GE> the "Magnus Carlsen of Predictions" and declaring <MC> the "Golden Executive of Over the Board Chess". <GE> has the outright lead in all 4 Rankers. He has some fierce contestants in close pursuit, <wordfunph> and <Count> in particular.

In other news, <Penguincw> waited until the 8th round was over before turning in his picks. While that was an admirable attempt to cheat the system, and the kind of "Whatever It Takes To Win" mindset so often missing here, the execution was sadly lacking. Even after looking at the results, he still only managed to predict 2 games correctly! He put on an unconvincing innocent act, blaming the fact he has no fingers to count on as the reason he couldn't count to 7 or 8 or something. <Winky> pretended to be sympathetic, but he kept making faces behind <Pengo's> back as he laughed himself silly.

And now there's just one round left. All eyes are on <GE> as he feverishly studies the opening choices and previous games and biorhythms of the players meeting up in this round. Can he achieve the ultimate in Chess, a Quadruple Crown? Has there ever been a Quadruple Crown where the victor won all 4 Rankers outright? Can <Count> or <wordfunph> or someone else farther back make a late charge to deprive <GE> of immortality? The tension is thick and the stakes are high as we await the answers to these and many other pressing questions. One round to go in our thrilling contest, and the crowd rises.....
