<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: <jessicamonkeyqueen> if you threaten to copy the Monkey Predictor, you are morally obligated to participate in the contest. I just made that rule up, but it stands as written.

<chessmaroon> I'll figure out some random methodology of Monkey Picking and enter them into the written record after your post round recaps.

  OhioChessFan: Here's my very favorite <Wilson Pickett> song as performed by <chessmoron>:

  OhioChessFan: Of course, <jfq> and I are kidding about <chessmoron> being Wilson Pickett. So here, in fact, is an actual Youtube recording of <chessmoron> singing. Enjoy:

  OhioChessFan: You know, I think those models in the Monkey Sally video might have been the female chess players <chessmoron> met at the "Chess Club". I'm pretty sure they are.

<Ohio> I will definitely participate in the contest! What is the occasion?

Excellent video. I have long suspected <Wilson> was in fact the Monkey Ranker....

I'd just like to add that <Wilson>, even if he is the Monkey Ranker, is a bit of all right. Look how handsome he is even when sideways!

  OhioChessFan: Yeah, that sideways thing confused me. Maybe there's so many people in China the combined weight caused the country to tilt over.

Known as the <Guam Effect>:

  OhioChessFan: It's also possible the video had to turn the picture sideways and use wide angle to fit <chessmoron> in. Being 7' 6" creates a myriad of problems.

<OhioPunFan>

These puns are truly inspired thank you- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac_... .

They are up there with the creations of master cg.com punsters such as <yourself>, <HMS>, <boomie>, and <Crawfb5>.

I still remember when <boomie> skated home in a "fish-related" pun contest some years ago. This was no surprise- nobody was expecting him to be floundering or piscine in the wind in this tussle. He really did flex his mussels though, hammerheading home the win with the immortal "Bass make the best employees because they will work for scale..."

<Wilson brand tennis balls>

When do I put in my rankers brah? I didn't have time to look up three posts from mine to see when the contest starts, so I'll rely on you to let me know.

If I remember correctly, you have gibbon me permission to ape the picks of the Monkey Ranker?

<chessmoron: Hey <friends>

What better way to have a prediction contest than a <World Championship>. Get you prediction hat on, and let's PREDICT!

The drawing of colors will be available on Nov 24th (Opening Ceremony). All predictions must be posted on User: OhioChessFan before NOV 26th, 2021 at 7:30AM Eastern time.

Since there's 14 games total, predict as many games as you think the winner will need to score 7.5 points, the number needed to win the match. Then predict the number of moves each game you think will be played.

Be warned, if a game is not played and you predicted a game result, you will lose 3 points. ie. If game 14 is not played and you predict a game 14, you lose 3 points."

Posting format:

G1: Nepomniachtchi-Carlsen (1-0, 1/2, or 0-1) (# of moves played)

G2: Carlsen-Nepomniachtchi (1-0, 1/2, or 0-1) (# of moves played)

3. Only Moves+Bonus Ranker (See OhioChessFan chessforum 's profile on what that is about) will be used to medal.

4. I will post results after game 4, game 8, game 12, and game 14. >

Excellent rules you guys. I think I'm almost ready to put in my bids.

Just making sure I have all this right- for the bonus rounds, the Monkey Ranker must tally "only moves" such as the King moving out of check or a soldier blocking the path of check, or in the case of a horse ranker, a hop angled menacingly to the King's repose.

It's a good job I got my A-level in maths!
