<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: It's my experience that 99% of the games between 2 nobodies are higher quality than my own.
May-02-21  thegoodanarchist: That may be true for me as well, but if I am going to study chess, I want to study GM or IM-level chess, not 2100-level chess.

eternaloptimist: <Ohio> I’m glad that u didn’t suffer any side effects from the vaccine shots.

Ok so u are just playing games w/ friends on an actual chessboard. I used to do that but it’s been a pretty long time since I’ve played somebody on a chessboard. Speaking of lichess, I’ve thought about playing on lichess also. U can also play chess variants on lichess. I love chess variants so I think I will try some of them out soon

May-15-21  thegoodanarchist: The Problem With Sola Fide

A large percentage of Christians who adhere to this principle use it as justification for ignoring the corporal works of mercy.

They love to quote Ephesians 2:8-9 <For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.>

But then they (conveniently?) omit verse 10, which follows immediately: <For we are His workmanship, create in Christ Jesus for...>

For what? <GOOD WORKS, <<<<which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.">>>>>

OhioChessFan: <tga> I pretty much agree with all of that. I don't count myself among "A large percentage" in that regard.

OhioChessFan: I had one recently I should have deleted. They're picking them the day of submission a lot of times. I may have tomorrow's also.

May-31-21  DrNyet: FYI OCF, I posted a reply to a comment you made in my forum months ago. Sorry, I haven't been checking my own forum regularly because very little usually happens there, although I log in to the site fairly regularly and your forum is one I tend to check..

A student of Greek I know said it should be translated as created by (or on, or upon) good works, rather than for good works.

OhioChessFan: I know enough of Greek to be very careful about parsing prepositions too much.

When reading that verse, I'd understand "grace" to be the gift of God under consideration, and most people would agree that "grace" is not of works.

OhioChessFan: Wow. Do people take the puns a little seriously? Someone must have seen I had the highest rated pun score, 2 evaluations with a 21 average, and rated mine a 0, leaving it at 3 evaluations and a 14 average.

Someone needs to get a life.

Oct-14-21  technical draw: From the late Domdaniel:

<But now, 20 chapters in, I'm bored. I'm probably going to stop reading. Too many characters, too few notes(one), too repetitive, too preachy-yes, preachy-whilst pretending to be mere satire...>

He was writing about the book Catch 22. However this can be said about anything coming out of Hollywood today.

OhioChessFan: Well, no, that was me on <Domdaniel> forum. No question most Hollywood products are derivative and repetitive.
Nov-10-21  chessmoron: Hey <friends>

What better way to have a prediction contest than a <World Championship>. Get you prediction hat on, and let's PREDICT!

The drawing of colors will be available on Nov 24th (Opening Ceremony). All predictions must be posted on User: OhioChessFan before NOV 26th, 2021 at 7:30AM Eastern time.

Since there's 14 games total, predict as many games as you think the winner will need to score 7.5 points, the number needed to win the match. Then predict the number of moves each game you think will be played.

Be warned, if a game is not played and you predicted a game result, you will lose 3 points. ie. If game 14 is not played and you predict a game 14, you lose 3 points."

Posting format:

G1: Nepomniachtchi-Carlsen (1-0, 1/2, or 0-1) (# of moves played)

G2: Carlsen-Nepomniachtchi (1-0, 1/2, or 0-1) (# of moves played)

3. Only Moves+Bonus Ranker (See OhioChessFan chessforum 's profile on what that is about) will be used to medal.

4. I will post results after game 4, game 8, game 12, and game 14.

OhioChessFan: Thank you <chessmoron> I am going to celebrate the return of the Moves Prediction Contest by emptying my ignore list and trying to lighten up a little.

At first glance, the rules as stated seem fine. I'll invite our previous players to have a look and see if there are any loopholes.
