 | | WannaBe: Ouch, 42 points... Ouch... |
|
Jan-14-12
 | | WannaBe: 42-10, New England ahead, just where Tebow wants them... Starters resting. |
|
Jan-14-12
 | | Phony Benoni: If Tebow pulls this one out, the NFL will just give up, cancel the rest of the playoffs, give the Broncos the Lombardi Trophy, and have Tebow fly everybody to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Without a plane. |

 | | WannaBe: Good, then they only need to get one mahi-mahi to feed both AFC and NFC all-stars. (Coaches get to buy their own food.) |
|
Jan-14-12
 | | Phony Benoni: No, those are big guys. They'll need two mahi-mahi and five loaves of bread. The coaches can eat the twelve baskets of leftovers. |

 | | WannaBe: 2:56 left, Denver's ball, down by 35, score, on-side kick, score, on-side kick, fire, brimstone, locust, parting of the South China Sea, not a problem! |

 | | Fusilli: Hi there, <PB>. After your reply to my post on G Garcia Gonzales vs Timman, 1978 I've been looking at games from the 1978 Buenos Aires olympiad on that olimpbase site. Sometimes I wanted to post a comment on a game, but then I'd look it up here and wouldn't find it. I was surprised to find out that too many games from that olympiad are just not available on chessgames.com... Sigh. In any event, thanks for the link. I didn't know that site, and it is fun to get a sense of how the tournament progressed. I grew up in Buenos Aires and was a kid about to play my first tournament at the time, and I do remember the comments on the Hungarians winning over the Russians being a big upset, after the USSR having won so many olympiads in a row. I looked at the games of IM Jaime Emma, who was Argentina's champion in 1978 and my teacher, briefly, at some point in the 1980s. He didn't do very well, but here's a nice finish (not in this database): Jaime Emma v Terje Paul Wibe click for larger viewWhite to play and win. |
|
| Jan-15-12 | | hangingenprise: obviously you can't make 5 turnovers in a play-off game. another ugly game in baltimore, go ravens and lets see brady and company
against ray lewis and company.
hmm... a giant upset? |

 | | WannaBe: <Fusilli> PGNs are not copyrighted, I asked CG.com about this long time ago, so if the PGNs have no annotation, you can upload them here. If the PGN have annotation, just make sure they are removed first. If you are not sure how to do so, post the link to the games, and I can do them for you. |

 | | WannaBe: Play-offs!? Play-offs?! |
|
Jan-15-12
 | | WannaBe: This is for <Phony Benoni>, http://online.wsj.com/article/SB100... I remember Pistons playing at Palace (Auburn Hills, and I don't know how far away it is from downtown Det. Suppose I can google map it...) Joe Luis Arena and the ol' Tigers Stadium are the only 2, that is <IN> Detroit? |
|
Jan-15-12
 | | Phony Benoni: <WannaBe> Ford Field (Lions) and Comerica Park (Tigers) are also in downtown Detroit, next door to each other and within a couple miles of Joe Louis Arena. The Palace of Auburn Hills is about 25-30 miles due north of Detroit. Pontiac is about 15-20 miles north of Detroit, and built in the same mold of being based on the auto industry. The downtown area of Detroit is being restored and flourishing to some extent, but the neighborhoods continue to experience blight. The city will probably have to go under the direction of an Emergency Financial Manager soon. |
|
| Jan-15-12 | | Jim Bartle: I remember the Pistons playing at Cobo Arena for many years, which I guess was a smaller arena but one of the most modern ones in the NBA in the 60s. |
|
Jan-15-12
 | | WannaBe: <Phony Benoni> Thanks for the info, I also should have clarify my post. Before the new stadiums, Red Wings and Tigers are true 'Detroit' teams. =) Like the ol' Lakers, played at the Fabulous Forum at Inglewood, but still called L.A. Lakers. Clippers have always been a 'true' L.A. team, playing at the ol' Sports Arena, next door to the Coliseum. |

 | | WannaBe: This Hou-Bal game is turning out to be pretty interesting! |

 | | Phony Benoni: And let us not forget The Detroit Olympia, home of the Red Wings from 1927-1979 and Pistons from 1957-1961: http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/image... Generally known as the Old Red Barn, and so well constructed that one general manager remarked "If an atom bomb hit, I'd want to be in Olympia." |

 | | WannaBe: I am doing something kinda neat today, for the Hou-Bal game, I listened to the live feed from a San Antonio radio station. Now, I am listen to WFAN out of New York online. The announcer calls every pass a 'fast ball'. <Manning throws over the middle, a fastball.> =) |
|
Jan-15-12
