 | | WannaBe: Stop the madness, stop the madness!! =)
Both MIL & SFG pitchers are batting 8th in today's game. |

 | | WannaBe: To celebrate Opening Day, I offer you this (easy) trivia: Who's the only pitcher to throw a no-no on opening day? |
| Apr-04-16 | | Jim Bartle: Some feller I can't recall. |
Apr-04-16
 | | WannaBe: C. Kershaw v Tyson Ross, let's take a look at the numbers: Kershaw 114-56 career W/L 2.43 ERA, 301 Ks last year and multiple Cy Young Award Winner. Tyson Ross 32-52 career W/L 3.57 ERA.

 | | WannaBe: My magic 'black ju-ju' already working. Felix Hernandez lost today. |
Apr-04-16
 | | Phony Benoni: It is a source of regret that the late Robert Newhouse didn't play his college ball at Villanova. |
| Apr-04-16 | | Party Animal: What's the matter Phony, you don't like Ernie Banks??? |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: How many players have hit a home run in their first major-league at bat on opening day? I know Will Clark did it, against Nolan Ryan. |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: Both pitchers batted eighth in SF vs. Milwaukee:

| Apr-05-16 | | Party Animal: Hey Phony I hope ya didn't miss the Cubs game. Cubs 9 - Angels 0. ; P Here's a tune for ya Mr Benoni. I hope you're feeling better tomorrow, your pal P.A. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV3... |
Apr-05-16
 | | Phony Benoni: <Party Animal> I'm still on hold; the Tigers don't start until tonight. Probably fixed by CBS -- they knew nobody would watch North Carolina - Villanova if the Tigers were on. |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: It was halftime of the NCAA game last night, so I flipped to baseball. Dodgers 15 San Diego 0. Ugh. |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: Waddayamean Ugh?! It was Woo-hoo!! |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: I meant "ugh, it's not a competitive game." |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: If MLB season ended today, a bunch of team would make the play-offs. And it would be a tie-break mess/headache. Good thing season won't end for another 6 month. =)) |
Apr-05-16
 | | Phony Benoni: I thought you meant "ugh" as in "Why are they bothering scoring all these runs for Kershaw?" |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: So at the end of the year, with a few games like this,Kershaw's run support will read something like 6.0, and we'll think, "anybody can win with that." But it might be several 15s mixed in with a bunch of 0s, 2s, and 3s. |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: I'm hoping for as little 0s as possible, and lots lots lots of 5s and 6s. =) Watch, as Kershaw wins the ERA/Ks title again, with something ridiculous like 1.89 and 287. Possibly the triple crown, if the team can manage to get him Ws, like 25 of them, or 30. |
Apr-05-16
 | | Phony Benoni: Purely Academic Note: Justin Verlander has a no-hitter going after five innings. No way he'll be given a chance to go all the way, of course. |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: J.V. is still inline for the W, I was going to post some comment after 6-full, but alas... |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: Serious controversies in Tampa Bay... New slide rule wiped out 2 runs. |
Apr-05-16
 | | WannaBe: Okay, JV is now <NOT> in line for the W, he's guaranteed for ND. |

 | | Penguincw: < WannaBe: If MLB season ended today, a bunch of team would make the play-offs. And it would be a tie-break mess/headache. Good thing season won't end for another 6 month. =)) > If the MLB season ended yesterday, then the Jays would have the top seed in the AL for being the best team in all of baseball. They lost today, but they still got tomorrow, and things are looking great for them this year. In other news, Verlander had a great outing today. Aside from his pitching performance, he became the first AL pitcher since 1972 to get a hit on Opening Day. Yet another reason to not have the DH in the NL. Personally, I like how is it right now (with the DH and all), but if I had to make a change, I would suggest home team gets DH, visiting team does not. <Thoughts on this topic?> Price also had a great start. Can't wait to see him pitch vs. the Jays (especially at Rogers Centre). The Jays are pretty terrible vs. Price though... |
| Apr-05-16 | | Jim Bartle: <New slide rule wiped out 2 runs.> They're still making slide rules? |
Apr-06-16
 | | Penguincw: Just looking at that slide now (I didn't get to follow the game, just the results, since I'm busy with work pretty much all the time), but what the [expletive] was that? Seriously, what is this "slide rule" they talk about? Even if Bautista grabbing the leg of the 2B is their argument, the throw to first looked like a routine one hopper to me (and EE beat the throw to first anyway). But you know, umpires' gotta give mercy. This way might be the only way the Rays could beat the Jays this year... |
