Autocorrect of <gw>.

Not when it came to Blacks.

saffuna: <susan>, you're pretty selective about what posts to delete.

At least someone had the decency to delete <diceman>'s post celebrating Paul Pelosi getting hit in the head with a hammer.

Feb-02-23  optimal play: <saffuna: <susan>, you're pretty selective about what posts to delete.>

Yes, I've noticed that.

Following Novak Djokovic's recent win in the Australian Open, I posted a congratulatory message on the Hans-Joachim Federer page, (which seems to have become the forum for tennis comments).

When I posted my comment just on 30th January, I noticed the last post was also by me, an innocuous comment on the retirement of a famous tennis star:

<Sep-03-22 optimal play: Finally the Serena clown show comes to a close. And how fitting that it was an Australian that finished the old hippo's career. Despite repeated attempts, Serena was never able to equal the career grand slams of Margaret Smith-Court, who remains the greatest women's tennis player of all time with 24 major singles titles including a calendar year grand slam.>

Clearly there's nothing in my comment which contravenes any of the posting guidelines.

Anyway, following my post about Novak Djokovic, there were a number of following comments from various members. I then noticed that my post from four months ago had disappeared!?

Needless to say, I was rather perplexed by this.

I presume one of the members who had posted after me was a fanatical Serena Williams fan and so complained about it. But what I don't understand is how my comment contravened any of the posting guidelines and why a moderator would delete it!?

(Aside: was it you who complained, Jim?)

fredthebear: <Jan-31-23 Susan Freeman: <FTB> All I said was editors edit, as in the games and bios, and moderators get rid of the weeds that spring up in the garden. That's all you need to know. I understand it is difficult to be corrected.>

I question was rather rejected, certainly not corrected.

This <answer> is a short but reasonable answer, which is more than I was given the first time.

The moderators do a pathetic job; you're delusional if you think this is a garden.

The managers do a very hit-and-miss, once-per-week job that is entirely insufficient for a website that is 24-7-365. Pete seems to spend a lot of time on his boat. Obviously, his online interests lie elsewhere, and the oil spills remain.

  fredthebear: Rdb:

As an example of the problems with CG forums, I wrote your name one time above. Here it is:

<As an example, Rdb has 4 consecutive posts above (at some point, this possibility of run-on continuously posting should be prevented by technology) with approximately 17 name droppings, most names mentioned multiple times.>

As an example, I made an accurate statement reporting your 4 consecutive posts with 17 name droppings. It's a fact that you did this. Your 4 consecutive posts still remain to be read on Jan-29-23.

You wrote the names of other people 17 times. These are the facts, not opinions, but the facts of what YOU wrote.

Now, if you think that what I did was wrong ONE time, what does that make your 17 times?

Trolling of others in the forums should not be allowed. The mismanagement should have followed the posting guidelines and deleted your four posts for being in violation.

If you did it, accept responsibility. Don't take it so personally trying to fight a losing fight.

Feb-02-23  stone free or die: I don't know if I want to wade in, but since <opie> has waded out his saved old post about hippos...

I once had this post deleted...

<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac-...>

That's right, just a link to a video. One that I think well characterizes <opie>'s post about hippos (how apropos!), fwiw.

.

Feb-02-23  Rdb: <fredthebear> , perhaps I did not articulate myself well. Let me try again.

All I am saying is that <fredthebear> is a very good person but is often misunderstood.

I mean you bad mouthed me on your profile for a long, long , long , long time because you wanted people to be civil . That was a very good thing that you did

Admins listened to you apparently and gave me (And everyone else) ultimatum to behave . I listened to both you and admins and decided to be civil always . <George wallace>/<big pawn> refused to listen to you and he refuses to be civil and that is one of the reasons he should not be allowed to return because unlike me he defying/disrespecting you and admins .

You did a very good job <fredthebear> . You made me behave - you are a good person . It is unfortunate that you could not make <gw>/<bp> behave , he hell bent on defying/disrespecting you and admins . Well , you can not help everyone - perhaps , some people are beyond help. But I am grateful that you helped me.

Now , if you allow me to return favor , I too would like to help you . Your healthy criticism helped me , my healthy criticism of you can help you too. There are some areas where you are obviously wrong (in my opinion) and if you allow me I would point them to you and this way I would be able to help you the way you helped me . What do you say , <fred> ? Than you . Regards .

Feb-02-23  Honest Adin Reviews: YO... Correction needed, the unofficial 1850 lowenthal morphy match is incorrect, one of these games was drawn, fix it or show proof: 1. there were more than 2 games; 2. lowenthal really lost, contrary to:

Morphy vs Loewenthal, 1850

whatever happened to 'batgirl' sara cohen?

here she supports my stands, there was third game, create morphy-lowenthal 1850 unnofficial match link immediately: http://www.edochess.ca/batgirl/Lowe...

Feb-02-23  Honest Adin Reviews: according to the Book of the First American Chess Congress - Morphy won 2 and drew 1, this is direct and best source!
Feb-02-23  Rdb: <fredthebear><Now, if you think that what I did was wrong ONE time, what does that make your 17 times?>

You did no wrong. You did very good. Now if you think I did wrong by naming some person then you named me on your profile many, many , many times and for a very , very , very long time . So , by your own logic , if I am wrong , then you are very, very , very , very wrong.

I can go on and and on . So , just let us say - you were right and I was not only right but very , very , very , very , very right.

Susan Freeman: <FTB> Gee whiz. I didn't know Pete had a boat.

I must confirm this, and if he has outriggers, I am always up for deep sea fishing.

See? You really are better informed about these things than I .

Susan Freeman: confirmed. Pete does not have a boat. LOL
Feb-03-23  stone free or die: Susan, how would you like it if we started calling you <an old hippo>?

Please don't act like <opie>'s post was pure white (even if it was, pure, for whites).

https://www.news-journal.com/serena...

I would think Serena is much more GOAT than HIPPO -

https://nul.org/news/serena-william...

But go ahead and call her a hippo if that floats your boat - I just think whoever does that has sprung a leak.

Susan Freeman: <Stone> it is an opinion. Not that I agree, but it is just a person opining. I would go mad if I censored these thing.
I hope you understand.
I have been called many things on this site. senile , old, pathetic. One must be stronger.

Susan Freeman: It is an opinion. It does not make it truth.
Feb-03-23  stone free or die: Yes, I agree about not deleting it. But there should be some indication of it being inflammatory(*), which is why I posted.

Thanks.

(*) Consider the analogy of <Messiah>'s "opining" on every Carlsen loss.

fredthebear: Name calling is an insult, a personal attack, degrading, serves no good purpose. It should be an automatic no-brainer deletion -- routine as touch-move. Difficult to understand why "several moderators" could all agree not to delete such rudeness.
Feb-03-23  stone free or die: So <Fred> thinks <opie>'s post should have been deleted?

fredthebear: Oh, so now I am <Fred>, for now.

I said what I said clearly. Don't put words in my mouth.

Deletions should be handled swiftly on tried-and-true PRINCIPLE by a stable person of good character, not by some public debate in the forum with haters serving their agenda.

I called for deleting any post in a forum that drops the name of another member. By that standard, your post above should be read and deleted, for no member has the right to drag another member through the mud as you are obviously trying to do. This does not require a suspension, but it should not be allowed to last days, years either. You could very well be wrong about the member that you are squawking about, and no member deserves to have this done to them. You are nobody's judge.

As my son once made an analogy of speeding on the freeway….. Sometimes you speed and get away with it.
Sometimes you get a ticket.
Not to mention the DUIs that could be given.
On this site. Lol
