Ok. I'll limit my nominations to <Most Helpful> and <Most Constructive>

  Diademas: Me not know.
There may be some kind of honorable mention for someone carrying the torch from Daniel, but in honor of him I think this should be a living and loving environment, not a mausoleum.

Some do. Those votes for Chris Owen don't make much sense. He might win, though.

Jan-11-19  SkySports: It seems that at the moment there is a single candidate for the best post (pdxjjb comment on one of the Stockfish-Alphazero games). I wonder if everyone voted for it or if only a user has expressed his/her preference so far...

OhioChessFan: Rather sluggish voting. The only person who ever really cared about these was <technical draw> who'd beg for votes.

WannaBe: <offramp> Winners will be announced on July 4th.

=))

Jan-16-19  starry2013: Ding had the top performance rating last year.
Jan-17-19  jith1207: I don't know why I have been nominated in one of the categories. Description says that's who contributes the most. Considering my nomination and the number of categories where Chris Owen is nominated, it sounds like more care should be given to honor the enormous number of esteemed contributors of this site, who are rather much under appreciated IMHO. Also, the number of votes tallied seems to be very low, considering the number of regularly active members here. This should be the moment of honor for those members who truly have dedicated their time for this site, even if it means to have 10 nominations per category. And, I believe a note for voting page should appear in top of every page just as it is for the holiday hunt.

WannaBe: <jith1207> mid-30s vote count as/are normal. I double checked previous years when it was held on my forum.
Jan-21-19  jith1207: Ok thank you, I have never checked so far the final counts, to be honest. Still I'm surprised not many vote.
Jan-22-19  fabelhaft: <Ding had the top performance rating last year>

But didn't win any event, while Carlsen and Caruana won 4-5 top events each.

Jan-22-19  SkySports: Wasn't this supposed to be over on the 19th?

The results of the Caissars normally come 4 weeks after the conclusion of the <Holiday Contest Clue Hunt>.

The Holiday Contest Clue Hunt is currently at clue number 38 out of 64, so it is roughly half way through.

<Wannabe> gave a reasonable estimate when he estimed,

"<Winners will be announced on July 4th.>"

He probably meant 2019.

Jan-25-19  jith1207: Caissars award results were announced on Jan 18th last year, unless that one was the previous year's.. ;)

The Caissars: Voting for the 2018 Caissars has closed and the totals have been tallied. The winners for each category are listed below. Thanks to everybody who participated, and congratulations to this year's Caissar Award recipients!

1. There is a TIE for BEST AVATAR, and the co-winners are Users: <trulssk> and <WannaBe>!

2. The winner of BEST USERNAME is User: <moronovich>!

3. The winner of MOST HELPFUL is User: <Annie K>!

4. The winner for BEST POST is Stockfish vs AlphaZero, 2018 (kibitz #4), posted by User <pdxjjb>, which begins <I spent a long time analyzing this game using SF10. After a lot of computer time (10+ CPU hours on a 2013 Mac Pro, mostly focused on a few move sequences), I found a couple of interesting things...>

5. The BEST OFFTOPIC POST was a close contest, but Carlsen vs Caruana, 2018 (kibitz #509) by Richard Taylor edged out JohnBulten's Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #245373) by a single vote.

6. The FUNNIEST POSTER winner was again User <offramp>, who seems to pwn this category.

7. The winner for MOST CONSTRUCTIVE member was User: <Annie K.>

8. The BEST GAME COLLECTION was won by <Phony Benoni> this year for Game Collection: Ostend 1906, with an honorable mention to <Bubo bubo>, who placed second by only 1 vote with Game Collection: Cabinet of Curiosities.

9. The winner for MOST INFORMED is User: <SwitchingQuylthulg> by a large margin.

10. The BEST HISTORIAN honor was taken this year by User <Phony Benoni>, with last year's winner <Tabanus> placing second by only a single vote.

11. The PLAYER OF THE YEAR winner is Chessgames.com co-founder <Daniel Freeman>, who tragically & suddenly passed away last July. Daniel's crowning achievement—creating this unique chess community—will continue to grow and improve as we build on his legacy.

12. The BEST PUN OF THE YEAR award was won decisively by User <Sargon>, our resident <Punmaster General>, for <To Boldy Go Where No Man Has Gone: b4> Fischer vs J Gloger, 1964. At least he's good for something.

13. The MOVE OF THE YEAR winner is Svidler vs D Andreikin, 2018 with 10 votes, barely edging out Aronian vs Kramnik, 2018 with 9 votes, and Stockfish vs AlphaZero, 2018 with 8.

14. And the GAME OF THE YEAR winner is T Hillarp Persson vs T Laurusas, 2018, with Mamedyarov vs Caruana, 2018 and R Praggnanandhaa vs T S Ravi, 2018 tying for second place.

Once again, congratulations to all Caissar Award winners! We're looking forward to see what 2019 will bring as we enter a new era for Chessgames.com. See you all next year!
