Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: I thought we had an agreement of some kind? If I find something memorable that someone else has said then I post it on the MQ page? I'm not bothered about the argument and banter that took place when a certain numptie followed me to that page, so delete that if you must, but please, unless KK is breaking the rules then let his posts remain as a reminder tocchessgames of his mentality and own personal insults he directs at certain members of this site?
Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: Dear numptie..

As a member of chessgames dot com I have a "favourites list" just like many other premium members here.

Several studies have shown that having afavourites llist does not equate to "stalking!?"

However, as I don't know your real name and nor do I want to, you know mine. You followed me on twitter and must stare at my facebook profile pictures ,with a longing sense of admiration and envy at my boyish good looks, because you even know my current haircut isn't of your approval! You also bring up the unfortunately very real fact that I once spent a short time in prison and have mentioned my brother that died... Here on this site!

I think it's patently obvious to anyone with a brain that if any stalking has gone on then it's not me stalking you but in fact exactly the opposite.. You have stalked me and others away from this site, otherwise how would you know to comment on someone's weight, haircut or lack of finances?

I found your post about Lamont memorable because you were taking the piss out of a millionaire by saying he was broke... amongst many other things!

I hope this clears matters up for you, and we'll no longer be hearing about ridiculous stalking accusations from your hypocritical self.

Thank you, and have a great day 😃😃

Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: Gee, answering many of someone's posts is not something to complain about? Because there's a favorites list?

OK, good, Mark, because I know you would never complain about anybody following you around or stalking you.

Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: <Nope, btw I just say Susan Polgar twitter and you embaressing yourself to the world>

I've no idea what you're on about, literally don't have a Scooby Doo, but that's twitter... Not chessgames dot com.

<No on is on your side> On my side over what?? What are you talking about??

I have 5 or 6 people I don't really like and they don't really like me.. *shrugs* as TheFocus would say.

Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: AJ has accused me of a lot of untrue and criminal things. If I aren't making a fuss, and he isn't making a fuss then I'm happyto llet those false accusations slide..

There's nothing you can post *from me* like I can with you.. Only *about me* from the site joke!?

Is that it?? Is that all you have?? LOL 😃

Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: <MarkFinan: That's right Jim ;)>

That's good to know. Then it wasn't really you who wrote, <Jim Bartle comes along and posts a link to a game page from some kibitzing from my first night ever here, I ask him why, he says "I'll let others judge!". Now others did judge, and they told him not to try it because im smarter than him. And I couldn't care less about that link anyway, but it's the second time he's done it!?! So I told him to just stay away, because whether he denies it or not... <He's followed me around since I arrived over 3 year ago>, please believe me there was a reason he was on ignore!>

OhioChessFan: Maybe littering <TheAlchemist> forum with this discussion isn't best.
Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: 3 years to me looking at his previous kibitzing since yesterday is hardly the same as you following me around now is it Jim. And I wasn't complaining about you actually, just pointing out where something started. You kept posting a link from my first ever night here like I should be ashamed or embarrassed..

Well I'm not, lol 😃

Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: <Either you cool off and enjoy the site and forget it or you ll go down.> I'm not hot to cool down!?! Once again your doing that thing where you accuse someone of being something *you are*.

<aj, dom, this criminal history invented for TD, chessgames adm calling you schizophrenic obsessive.. More? I just stopped 3 minutes..You want more? >

Yeah okay.. More. 😃

Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: You complained I was following around...then. (Which is false.) And you say there is no such thing as stalking...today.

What's good for the goose and all that.

Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: Oh, you weren't "complaining." Right.
Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: I re-posted that "Ba3" post of yours when you claimed you admitted your mistakes when you make them.

I've never had a favorites list, don't care about anyone else's. It was <you> who brought it up when discussing stalking, or the lack of stalking.

Now I'm going to cry in the corner because you're not my fan. It was my life's ambition.

Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: I'm sorry Jimbo, haha. What you doing right now do you fancy a game on fics?? You could go up in my estimations and maybe hit that favourite list, lol. Seriously, do you fancy a game??
Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: Btw Jim. I really do think I would have played Ba3 in that game. Post that link again and we'll go back to that game (I'm forgetting Capablanca's opponent right now!) and I'll do my best to explain to you why, and why I still don't think that game was anything spesh? I know ill be in a minority, but I like it went the odds are against me! They they it brings out your fighting spirit, but don't ask me who they* are, lol. 😃
Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: Maybe you would have played it, but that it wasn't you wrote. You said you saw it immediately, and Capablanca was a dunce not to see it. Yet even Botvinnik didn't see it was winning, could only see far enough that it didn't lose.

TheAlchemist: What the f... I haven't had this much activity here in years :-)

As far as I'm concerned you all do what you want, but I'm worried polluting MQ with nonsense will discourage others from posting there, that's really all I was saying from the start. And thus ruining a place that has served its purpose for years. There are two ways I could stop it, police it and delete offending posts as quicky as possible (though with dubious effect, as seen already) or close it down altogether. And obviously I'm not keen on either.

If you need a place to vent then I guess my forum is as good a place as any, certainly preferable to MQ.

Feb-07-14  Jim Bartle: Feel welcome to delete all my posts here. No problem.
Feb-07-14  MarkFinan: Yeah, delete all mine if you want too mate. I'll copy and paste and re post at mine, and I apologise for clattering your forum with KK!? 😃 Maybe that MQ page needs revamping somehow, I don't envy you anyway but I think what's memorable to some is offensive to others, it's the old 'Irony is lost on an idiot' thing again.

But once again, I apologise for clattering your forum.

  TheAlchemist: <Jim> <Mark>

Thanks, but it's not necessary, as I've said it's the MQ forum I'm worried about not this one and I really don't want to censor anything if possible, since that's hardly an effective way of going about it and it's something I disagree with anyway.

You can post whatever here since, as I understand it, personal forums were conceived as more "off-topic" than regular pages. But MQ was envisioned as more of a "specialized" forum, so off-topic discussion is, while often understandable, really undesirable, since if it degenerates it could discourage people from visiting or posting, thus ruining its purpose.

And that's really my only beef, I don't visit here as much as I used to and am not "up to speed" with the latest feuds :-). I don't know how or why this started, so you will all have to forgive me if I am reluctant to choose sides. And that's why if I want to try and be impartial on MQ I have to spare no one, unfortunately, even if some posts were completely innocuous and I'd otherwise have no problem with them on their own.

Oh, and my reactions on MQ haven't really been level-headed either (I have already deleted the discussion) so I should really apologize as well.

Sorry, I didn't read the discussion and almost missed out on this quote of yours that warrants a response:

<Anyeay, its on you. If you allow that, basically you are destroying your page, I could no care less.>

It may not show, but I do care still. However, as you may have seen, the last time I went into "berserker rage" and deleted everything almost immediatly, the same thing manifested only a few days later.

I felt at the time I might have been too rash and my actions only caused resentment, thus the "relapse", but I don't know, as I've said I have no clue what your conflict is about.

I fully intend to clean up the latest mess, but I guess I was hopeful you'd resolve your arguments by the time I got around to it, so nobody would notice, or if they did, they wouldn't care anymore :-). Eh, I guess stealth isn't my strong suit.

  TheAlchemist: Day 1 recap

I didn't see all the events, sadly had to work, but here are at least the winners of today...

The first gold medal in what was the first time for slopestyle at the Olympics went to the American Kotsenburg. Now, I didn't know any of the competitors or the favourites, but it was certainly a spectacular opening.

Next was the queen of Vancouver, Marit Björgen, continuing in style where she left off in the women's skiathlon. It was an exciting finish for 1st and 3rd, with Björgen edging out Charlotte Kalla and Heidi Weng won the bronze.

Sven Kramer was the favourite and won with a superb display in the 5000 m speed skating. His effortless glide is truly a wonder to behold. The Dutch won all three medals, so it was a dream start for them in their "national sport" :-).

And finally, biathlon opened up with the men's sprint and what a race it was. Sadly it didn't go to well for our team, but it still finished with a fantastic victory by the legendary Ole Einar Björndalen, in my opinion one of the best sportsmen ever, who produced another vintage performance in what may well be his swan song, unfortunately he is retiring this season. Silver went to Dominik Landertinger of Austria and bronze to Jaroslav Soukup of the Czech Republic. Home hopeful Anton Shipulin had the race in his hands, but let it slip away at the range and was only fourth, even though he clocked the best skiing time.

There was also the qualifying for the men's 90 m hill in ski jumping, not a lot are probably interested about it, sadly things didn't go so well, though I'm still hopeful about our athletes' chances for tomorrow, but the team event may be compromised.

Norway with 2 gold medals is at the top. Heia Norge :-)

TheAlchemist: That should have been day 2 in my previous post. Anyway, Day 3 and 4 were both successful and unlucky. Yesterday we (I know, it wasn't me, but when you almost lose your voice cheering I think you earn the right to use the first person :-)) won our first medal (silver) in ski jumping, however today our favourite was "only" 4th in the women't super combined (won by Maria Riesch) and out biathletes were very bad.

Maybe I should also mention the Italian luger Armin Zöggeler who won a medal in his sixth consecutive games, a record. The Netherlands made their second sweep in the men's 500m speed skating, French Martin Fourcade got revenge in the men's pursuit (biathlon), while yesterday the Slovak Anastasia Kuzmina successfully defended her title in the women's sprint. Also yesterday the Swiss Dario Cologna won in the skiatlon in another tight finish over Swede Markus Hellner, while nothing noteworthy so far in the women's hockey tournament, the favourites are cruising to the semis.

Oh, almost forgot, Austria have in a sense already saved their Olympics by winning the men's downhill, the young Matthias Mayer's victory was a bit surprising, though he has been progressing very well this season and was in particularly good form in practice runs, while pre-race favourites Miller and Svindal finished off the podium.

TheAlchemist: Ha, what a great couple of days - and this one has barely started :-)

Two bronze medals and, finally, a gold one. We're only a few days in and these are already our most successful games ever.
