Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

Mar-19-07  hitman84: <Marco>Did <Qa5> get refuted ?
Mar-19-07  Marco65: <hitman84> Jessica found a knight sac very dangerous at least, if you mean to play it please have a look at it before
Mar-19-07  Marco65: <Jessica> Could you have a look at the 17...e5 18.fxe5 Bxg5 19.exd6 Bf6 sac? I found an interesting defence by White, better than before but still not fully equalizing:

20.Qc4!? Qa5 21.Qb3 Bb7 22.Bh3! Bc6 23.Bxd7 Bxd7 24.Nc5 Bc6

I analyzed two sample lines the best as I could from here:

a) 25.Rg1? Rb5 26.Qc4 b3! 27.Nxb3 Qxa2 28.Qxc6 Rxb3 29.d7 Qxb2+ 30.Kd2 Rc3

b) 25.Kb1! (definitely best) Rfe8 26.d7 Re5 27.Qd3 Rd8 28.Nb3 Qb5 29.Qxb5 Bxb5 30.Nc5 Be7 31.Rd5 Bxc5! 32.Bxc5 Rxe4 33.Rhd1 Rxd7 34.c4! Rxd5 35.Rxd5 Bc6 36.Rd8+ Re8 37.Rxe8 Bxe8 38.Bxb4 h6! the endgame is difficult but h5 is doomed and it's Black who has a chance to win imo

Looks good for us.

TheAlchemist: <Marco> I took a look at your lines, good work, but after <25.Kb1! Rfe8 26.d7 Re5>, isn't 27.Bd4 possible here? With the idea of 27...Rxc5 28.Bxf6 where we can't recapture because of 29.Qg3+. Maybe given of the importance of the f6-bishop, white could try 25.Rhf1 with the idea of 26.Rxf6, we would have to move the bishop away somewhere, most likely on h4, but which allows Bd4 gaining the diagonal. I don't like our position there very much, to be honest.

I think we should recapture back on e5, 17...e5 18.fxe5 dxe5 (or Nxe5)

Mar-19-07  Marco65: <hitman84> As usual I didn't think of 18...gxh6. Anyway 19.Rxh6 Qxa4 20.Bc4 might give White a strong attack.

I see 17...e5 giving us a small advantage in a safer way, I won't change my vote

Mar-19-07  hitman84: <Marco>No probs! e5 kinda liquidates the position. I still stick to my pet <Qa5> :)

jessicafischerqueen: <Hitman> <Qa5> is playable, but as I've been stressing for weeks, any position with an open file on our King in an Asymmetrical Sicilian is potential Death for Black.

Check out what happened to <Samikd> when he let me open his <h> file in our recently completed Correspondence Asymmetrical Sicilian... (the game is posted on my Profile)

I think we should strive to keep our <g> and<h> pawn intact- if they are "covered" by white <g> and <h> pawns it actually helps our defence, at least in the middle game.

In that case, we just have to be sure to avoid giving them access to the <f or g8> Diagonal.

WAGONS HO!!

<e5 for me>

Mar-19-07  chessmoron: Going once.....

Going twice.....

SOLD to 17...e5

<TheAlchemist> Should I move or should I let you move?

TheAlchemist: <chessmoron> It's ok, I'll do it. Do you think we should move now?
Mar-19-07  chessmoron: Maybe past 2:30 EST time.

TheAlchemist: That's in 10 minutes time, that's what I was thinking. I prefer to keep it as it is, so I'll be sure to be able to be around on Friday
Mar-19-07  Marco65: <hitman84> 22.Qg2 might improve for White in your lines...

<TheAlchemist> You're right about 27.Bd4, maybe I'll have more time to think whether 18...Bxg5 works or not. For the time being, it seems it doesn't

Mar-19-07  Marco65: Ok let's go with ...e5, no time left for analysis I agree...

  TheAlchemist: 17...e5 was posted.
Mar-19-07  hitman84: Hi guys I'd like to withdraw from the team!

Premium Chessgames Member
TheAlchemist: <hitman> I'm not going to enquire why, it might be none of my business. If you wish to do so, we can't stop you, but it won't be the same without you. I'd really like for you to reconsider, though.

This is already the second member leaving us, this is really hard for me, I feel at least a bit responsible for everything that goes on with the team.

Mar-19-07  Zebra: I think <hitman> was joking. I hope so, because I may soon have to stand down for various reasons, and we are only allowed one more replacement.

Premium Chessgames Member
TheAlchemist: I hope so too, but I don't think this is something we should be joking about, or maybe it's just me that doesn't "get it", I am, after all, becoming "slower" with each passing day. I thought he felt like we didn't give his efforts enough consideration and recognition.
Mar-19-07  Zebra: I wondered too, but I think the exclamation mark gave it away. I am sure if he really had to leave he would have expressed it differently.

In any case, I believe everybody is very happy with your captaincy.

jessicafischerqueen: <Captain> You are the greatest Captain ever.

Our esteemed <African Ungulate> is correct, <hitman> is joking.

<Zebra> if you have to leave, we will all cry!!

<Hitman's> analysis is brilliant and I for one have gone through ALL items posted by ALL team members in our game.

GOOOOOO TEAM!!!

Mar-19-07  brankat: Good team spirit, considerate an friendly co-operation, FAIR PLAY. So far. Let's KEEP IT THAT WAY! The outcome is not nearly as important.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Team>

You lads ever get the feeling that a <Giant Kitty> is watching us from a Dirigible or some other form of airship, monitoring our activities here?

I may be crazy but I just can't shake this feeling...

Mar-20-07  hitman84: I'm not feeling well, a bit stressed out.
I'd like to give some time for myself to recover completely, at least a week. If anyone wants to replace me, I'm fine with that. Sorry for the trouble. I closed my forum so that I don't get drawn into conversations. <achieve>I'd like to postpone our game.

Good luck!
