WannaBe: personal log star date May, 2006...

pool vs. chess, things that are alike....

You plan ahead, you see your ball/objective/piece/position and your next move/shot/piece/position. Some shooters/chess players sees it 8-ply, some sees it more/less, but the principle is the same.

At times, you may need to 'swindle' the other player, go for a wild combination chessmove/shot in 9-ball, a prayer richochette. See if you can rattle your opponent.

Things that are different...

You talk to your balls in pool... (Slow down... Get off the rail... Come on baby, drop/fall!!) but you don't talk to your chess pieces.

I need to apply some of my pool know-hows to chess. After 1.5+ years of studying chess (on a semi-serious level) I'm happy/pleased with my progress.

May-28-06  patzernic: I swear at my chess pieces and my pool balls, especially if my opponents ball does a knight move.

WannaBe: One of my all-time favorite song...

Lyrics (full version) to the song 'Suicide is Painless' (Movie M*A*S*H)

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...

[REFRAIN]:
that suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.

(I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...)
[REFRAIN]

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.

[REFRAIN]

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.

[REFRAIN]

The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[REFRAIN]

A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'

[REFRAIN]

'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

May-28-06  suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a faithful trip; that started on this tropic shore, aboard this tiny ship; the mate was a mighty sailing hand, the skipper brave and sure; five passengers set sail that day, on a three hour tour...

A three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed; if not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost...

The Minnow would be lost.

The ship set ashore on the ground of this uncharted desert isle,

With Gilligan!
The Skipper too,
The Millionaire
and his wife.
The Movie Star!
And the rest,
Are...here...on... Gilligan's Isle!

1. X-men 3 wasn't as good as the first 2, but still enjoyable>

No way man, x-men 3 is the best of the 3. Phoenix rules!

WannaBe: <like a GM> I thought Phoenix had way too much anger/uncontroll-able power within her. Did you watch the movie ALL the way to the end? =)
May-28-06  chessmoron: X-Men 3 lacks that Bryan Singer's touch. Brett Ratner, go back making Rush Hour 3, don't torture Jackie Chan, he's getting realy really old.

WannaBe: Re: X-men 3. Of course, Stan Lee did his usual cameo in the movie. I think he's done a cameo in every Marvel comics book character that's turn into movie. And sequel...
May-29-06  like a GM: <Did you watch the movie ALL the way to the end? =)> Yes. Well, i liked it. It was the ultimate power. If she could controll it she would be more like before. In my opinion.
May-29-06  chessmoron: <Wannabe> Not exactly every Marvel comic books. He never had a cameo in Blade <Wesley Snipes>

WannaBe: Angolina and Brad just had a baby daughter, and they named her Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.

Why would anyone name a baby after a civil war battle?

WannaBe: Janis, girl. Died of drug overdose (see autopsy link on that page).

She was a member of Big Brother (and Holding Company) 1965 under the chronology link on that page. Then I believe she went solo. She was at the Monterrey festival, can't remember if she was at Woodstock or not... (Just a little before my time, you know =)

Kosmic Blues looks to be the name of an album and song title. You can sample of the music here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0... and click on see all song titles

I like 'Summertime', 'piece of my heart', 'Try (just a little bit harder)', 'Me & Bobby McGee', 'Mercedes Benz', and 'Get It While You Can'.
